Did you say you were interested in Biology? what about Biology with Molecular Bioscience? or Human Biology. But this one seems ideal for you - Biomedical Sciences - or am I totally up the garden path with these?
How about Biochemistry and Pharmacology, followed by a Phd, then a Post Doc, then deciding science is not for you (a career in it anway)- lol or is it just me who is gonna make that mistake lol ? :o:o:o:o
Good luck whatever you chose pigpen, it is kind of hard doing any biology course and completely avoiding chemistry though (I had to do foundation- it was not foundation though- there were lots of formulae etc and it was a huge jump up from Higher chem, organic, inorganic, physical in first yr and organic for biosciences in second year), cos its kind of fundamental to understanding a lot of the biology at the molecular level.

Have you tried ol' faithful Bicarb? what is the smell from? You may be able to use one of those spot carpet cleaners if only small. HTH
I have tried bicarb and no luck. It is just old carpet smell (was here when DH moved in to the house)- really needs changing but looks ok and seems silly when DS may well have some accidents on there (its his room). Shake n vac works but was wondering if anyone had other ideas. As its not real wool it does seem hard to wash properly as the fibres are kind of synthetic.

pigpen - I'm inclined to agree with deniseflower's suggestions - is it a full time or parttime course that you want? I notice one of these is funded which may be a factor to consider.

ps DS2 tells me that Hull are doing rather nicely at the football recently!

Come on then.. pick me a course.. lol

Toots.. They don't do anything interesting at the uni here though it is one of the leading research depts in the country!! I can't have anything to do with the chemistry dept.. and I am still not doing nursing lol.. They do the lab techy stuff here but that is about it.. the health tuition is next to nothing..

    Anyway.. go see.. :D..
here is what I would be considering but I dont know your ultimate choice of finishing level IYKWIM - some of them might not be enough?!

Biology seems to be a popular choice from us
biology with molecular bioscience again seems to be a popular choice
    criminology with psychology
criminology with forensic science (BUt this maybe out because of the chemistry?)
    ecology
educational studies with early childhood studies
    environmental management
    environmental science
    human biology another popular choice
    learning disability nursing
    operating department practice
    psychology with counselling
    " " criminology
    " " sports science
    " " philosophy

the science ones dont all involve chemistry there are options I think from the quick scan i did
    toots xx

I know what you mean OrkneyStar - the only other thing I can think of is one of those carpet cleaners (can you borrow a vax?) or get someone in - cheaper than new carpet and it should shift it then - Oooh, one more thing, have you checked the underlay? sometimes that holds the smell.

    Hope that helps,

I am eyeing up the bio-med science.. but.. ARGH!! .. I dunno!! Mayeb it is a waste of my time after all.. I should have known nothing EVER goes to plan (I am getting maudlin' ignore me!!)

They are doing amazingly well... 5 years ago the club was going to close due to lack of money.. they were the back end of the queue.. and here they are third (or they were at the weekend) in the premiership!! Unfortunately the stadium here is too small for any away fans to come and watch the home games!!

we could ignore you but you wouldnt like it!!!! and none of this defeatist m'larky m'lady - you help us soooooo much that we are here to use your pointy stick on you and hopefully give you a prod in the right direction!!!!

I ddnt suggest the bio-med science as i thought it was too much lab/chemistry/bil - but I have to agree with the others it looks good for you - and the choices of speciality are good too - genetics etc - def worth a good hard look!

    Evening all

Mozzie – mid to late 1800s – and yes, it is a crime story in a way – there’s also the dodgy will court case, the disappearing, money owing solicitor (who turned up 20 years later teaching in Brighton!) – the chap who, everytime something went slightly wrong, went abroad for a few months for the sake of his health…..

Wilf – your Macie is a cutie!

Pigpen – hope you are feeling less bruised now. Can’t advise on the college stuff – that’s a decision only you, really, can take. But, science wise – how about forensics ? My friend’s daughter is studying it at the moment and is really enjoying it. You could get to work at a police station and ogle men in uniform all day

Mudbath, glad you’re not so sore today

Well ladies, I made a big decision today. Some of you know I've not been particularly happy at work just recently due to various political shenanigans. I work on a freelance basis and my current contract is due to end. I've been offered another extension for a couple of months or so (probably take me through to around middle of Feb). I'd been thinking about not accepting it and just walking away. But, given the current economic environment and the fact that my fee is, ultimately, paid by the Government so I don't have to worry about the company going bust, I've decided to accept it. I'll speak to my team lead tomorrow and see about having a week off between the end of the old and the start of the new. Wish me luck!

Well, better go and fly around the kitchen. Pigpen - could you make the bathroom tomorrow's task? I have people coming round for a meeting on Thursday evening so it needs to be clean just in case!
I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
  • I'm back and raring to get started. Does anyone fancy joining me for a HHC from 6.15 - 6.45?
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in. :D

Evening all, deposited DS2 at Beavers, he was keen to go again, just hope the leader oks him to stay from next week when she's back! Anyway got about 20 minutes now before I go to collect him so thought I'd pop in and say hello. Had my cuddles this morning, little tike he is now, he's into EVERYTHING, I will see if the photos DP took of him on his phone have worked when he gets in and post one if they're ok.

Pigpen, !!!!!! woman, be careful! You're all as humpty dumpty as me.

I must fit in extra studying tonight as exam is tomorrow, so once DS2s collected I'm being mean, it's food and bed! Then I need a shower of course as won't have time tomorrow. I need to get up the A1 and to near the airport somewhere by 10am! Then try to find parking as they've said nothing can be done and they are still advising public transport, I'll be struggling to do it in a car!

Right, ok, must calm down, stop panic and breathe..................****, ****, **** can you tell I'm a bit nervous...........

Right, will get food out on a tray and set oven to preheat while I am out, then pop it in when I get back. **must stop panic** Oh and need to find DS1s spellinsg book, where the flup that is I don't know. Oh and his swimming kit, MUST remember or they'll be phoning me mid exam.
One day I might be more organised...........
