Lil_me - I'd cut them up and apply for your OWN card (that he doesn't know about, assuming he doesn't open your post) for emergencies. But be careful not to run up any joint debt on it if its in your name. Or if you think you can have a sensible conversation, talk to him about having a joint card for emergencies and that they'll be locked away in the house (I have one like this, which means if my wallet is stolen, as long as I can get home, I have access to money while things are replaced).
SM - hope tomorrow is better
Mudbath- be careful, delegate everything... and it might be worth getting an electrician to put a cable through some trunking to your utility room (extension cables can overheat and catch fire if you have major appliances running off them). If not, at least get your OH to get out some cable clips and secure the extension lead properly.
Kazwookie - great idea :j
Polka - don't feel so bad about your progress with the cigarettes. The important thing is that you've tried, and you've admitted you need more help. A couple of things to remember - as you're doing all this baking, you're going to have to keep washing your hands after smoking, so by making it a big deal (and using lots of handcream) you may start feeling that the smoking is too much hassle. Also, if you feel like having a cigarette, distract yourself by either doing something else that needs doing (I've always found that I want one if I'm bored/avoiding doing something I don't want to) which at least puts it off and gets the numbers down, or setting conditions (you have to do something first, or you can have/do something nice if you keep below a certain number). If you don't let yourself smoke in the house, you'll probably find you cut down dramatically at this time of you due to the wet/cold etc.
Toots - glad you managed to make something positive out of a negative situation
Pigpen - you know we'll help if you need us to...
My dad is now here, and (fingers crossed!) is sorting out the area round the front door/steps which is VERY cobwebby & spidery and needs the plants cutting back. He's also pruning the honeysuckle that's growing in (yes IN) the garage!
So not much more from me today, I have to keep him entertained (i.e. busy on the things I want doing, not what he thinks should be done)
Have a great evening!0 -
Evening all
Hugs to all those who are feeling down. I went through a phase like that a couple of weeks ago – but you do get through it, trust me!
Mudbath – awww, hun! Hope the pain is easing off now. I think us other Flyladies should club together and buy you some safety gear. Elbow defenders, hard hat, knee pads, cotton wool body suit, Kevlar apron (just in case you slip with a knife when cooking), steel toe capped boots etc. We could call it the MSE Fund ( where MSE =Mudbath’s Safety Equipment…)
MoneySaving Diva – I would have missed you except I was awol too = welcome back
Dusty – I had a good weekend (apart from being stuck in traffic for hours on the way up there on Friday). We went traipsing the graveyards on the Saturday and I found the gravestone of my GGGG Grandad and Grandma along with a couple of GGG Uncles which was really unexpected. I was daft enough to buy a small bunch of flowers from the local newsagent s and go back and spread them about the three graves and say a few words to them.
For those of you who may be curious – I went to visit ExH1 who got in touch out of the blue a few months ago. But, I’ve come back realising that I’m glad he went out of my life when he did. He’s a nice man but I’ve realised that if we’d stayed together I’d have not achieved half the things I have in my life so I am at peace with all that went on in the past now.
Pigpen – love – you really sound like you’re on overload at the mo can any of the kiddies help with the housework stuff. And lying down in the road will just cause all sorts of extra problems – just think of the traffic jams…. All those poor overworked drivers being unable to get home and it’ll be all your fault (only kidding hun!):rotfl:
Lilme – I’d chop up all but one and stick the other somewhere safe like in the freezer.. just in case. It can take time for a new one to arrive.
Had a reasonable day at work - apart for an hour in the morning when it seemed there was yet another attempt at the competition to see just how many people can fit into one small office. Ahhh me.... How am I supposed to work in those conditions? I'm a professional!!!!
OK, enough catching up. I need to start my own MACAW which is to really start following the lists again daily in an attempt to free my weekends up so that I can get the darned book writtenI am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Just got up and Im getting sorted for work.
Got a bad head and my throat hurts a bit so will take something before I go out.
Went to see mum this morning and she was upset. Someone or something had upset her but I couldnt understand what she said. I asked the staff but no one knew anything. She was happy when I came away though.
Have not caught up with all the thread but will do that while Im having a quick cuppa.

We'll just have to post my screams off the page lol...
I DO NOT feel better.. I have to do another 6 hours at college to get on the course I want and then it is based purely on the grades I get because if I don't get A x2 I can't do it.. and I think I may just go lie in the road..
Dressmaking will HAVE to be dropped and that will free one morning and I'll add and afternoon (hopefully thursday) and make hubby collect the grubs at 3pm..
I don't think I can cope with another 6 hours I truly don't!
Pigpen, don't know what to say to help, but scream or rant away, we will always listen and help where we can... have they given you another course then?LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -

Wilf, I'm fortunate I have a bit of spare cash around which means I can take real advantage of offers. Everytime I go to the supermarket, if I see there's an offer on something I BUY ANYWAY (and that's the crucial thing.. not on stuff I don't buy anyway) I buy up lots and store it. For example, I'm still getting through the butter mountain I bought a few months ago when the butter I buy was on special offer. I stuck it all in the freezer (it keeps really well). I also have enough teabags stored to quench the thirst a couple of batallions of soldiers serving in a desert somewhere and enough washing up liquid stored to do the washing up of the resulting empty tea cups 7 times over. I have enough soap and shampoo to open up a beauty parlour..
I take full advantage of the x pence off items and add the savings up in my head as I go round the supermarket. I then add that to any bogof deductions to the till receipt when I get home and then transfer that exact amount of money (even if it's only £1.45) from my current account to my savings account. (Mind you, I've not done that recently). My savings total was also boosted by the fact I had some old maps lying around which I flogged off on ebay and made a packet on.
But I realise I'm really fortunate in that I have the spare cash to take advantage of all the offers. Others are not so fortunate... hugsI am the leading lady in the movie of my life

We are much the same as you soappie. The last time I bought DW tabs was with DH so that shows you how long that was!!!! And we must have bought them at lesat a yr before he died. Enough shower gel to cleanse a small nation is another. The problem is storing all these bulk purchases.
Oh and then there was the time we bought 16 jars of Nescafe for the price of 1Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -
