rose oul perfune sounds just what I might be looking for too - would I get it on my high street or was it an independent shop? Do you know that you can buy Haddon Hall quite cheaply on ebay?? I see it quite often here in auctions too - bear it in mind if there is anything you are particularly looking for.
Emily -welcome to the mad house

Glad you had a lovely day Toots. The perfume is a Tisserand one, nothing special http://www.tisserand.com/shop/pure-skin-perfume-new-c-72.html so you should be able to get it on your high street if you don't want to buy it on line.

I don't really do ebay (not organised enough!), although I have seen the Haddon Hall on there. I'm never really looking for anything in particular, just as stuff comes up. It's a very busy pattern, so too much of it probably isn't a good thing - we've always used it for holiday breakfasts rather than anything else, so its just nice to add odds & ends to it so that there is enough when they have visitors.

I have to keep signing in every time I sign in and there has only been a page & half, so no-ones been talking much - right, proves it, must have been down! :D:D:D

  • Am going to work on the bathroom a bit more then off to bed. Goodnight all

PS. Is there a list anywhere on this board of recommended stuff to have in your cleaning cupboard? At the moment I have washing up liquid, washing powder, bleach, Cif cream, furniture polish, various cloths, sponges, rubber gloves, cleaning wipes, dusters, kitchen roll, and I think that's about it. In particular is there anything you'd recommend for unblocking drains as mine honk  and the stuff in the shops costs about £4 last time I looked. Thanks

You can't get more than a couple of people on this thread to agree with each other on something like that, but we're all more than happy to advise and offer opinions.

Valli & TAG will tell you that it is vital to have matching pegs, preferably ones that go with your washing line... they have a few disciples, but the rest of us think its a dangerous cult to join

There are lots of Stardrops fans here.

    Also soda crystals and vinegar.

Personally I go for eco-friendly stuff, so natural cleaning products, e-cloths, old rags, vinegar, bicarb, borax & occasionally soda crystals.

For your drains, firstly check outside that they aren't blocked with leaves etc (if so, put on your rubber gloves, hold your breath and get them out and into the bin!). For the outdoor drains, put 60g of bicarb and 110ml of vinegar down the drain and cover while it fizzes (you want it to fizz down, not up). Follow with a bucket of hot water. For indoor drains, use twice the quantity of bicarb & vinegar, put the plug in while it fizzes, then run the hot tap for a couple of minutes. To keep them fresh once clear, sprinkle with bicarb, pour down some green all-purpose cleaner, then rinse with water.

I've also found the stuff on mouldy bathrooms - scrub tiles using a toothbrush dipped in vinegar, or a bicarb paste, and rinse. Then fill a spray bottle with 110ml hydrogen peroxide & 225ml water. Spray on, leave for an hour then rinse. To kill mould add 2tsp tea tree oil to 450ml water and spray (this won't remove the stains but will kill the mould, so probably something to spray daily once you've got the problem under control.

Apparently you should wear a mask and long gloves to protect yourself from the mould spores.

    Hope this is useful

Edit... found more.... 110ml vinegar & 60g borax in warm water makes mildew remover. Keep the shower and bath dry, let natural light in, and wipe the walls with vinegar and water to inhibit mould growth.

re the bathroom - it occurs to me that, now you're a flylady, you will have the bathroom looking spotless in no time - perhaps you need to take a picture to show how bad it can get...you can show this to your GP to prove your case BTW...clearly you do not want mould in there because mould spores are harmful BUT they will return if the underlying problem which is causing the damp is not treated.

Out of interest - how many external walls does your bathroom have? They are notorious for getting cold and hence damp.

Some great suggestions there Valli, thanks :A . I might take some pictures. We're on the council housing waiting list for a bigger flat/bungalow. We applied for one the other day and came third out of the seventeen applicants. The person who got it was in Band A (homeless)

Right I really am getting off this thread now for the night. I think, no I know, I'm becoming addicted! Goodnight again

Eucalyptus oil is great on mildew/mould stuff I find

Emily, what you have should do most jobs, drains will clean up ok with bleach if the chemicals thing doesn't bother you, if not you can try greenbees idea or just plain boiling water I find does most drain jobs. Biggest rule is don't buy loads of stuff you won't need/use because someone else uses it, waste of money, buy something as you need it/use it.

Well I ended up coming back up to the caravan, chill time I suppose and yes toots it's weird! Had a bit of a tiff with DP who said on the phone 'monday we'll sort some more of the house out' and I said 'well you can but I am at a meeting' so he went stroppy. As I said he is away far more often with racing than I am with meetings, I don't stop him going and the fact these meetings are so important for our children and those of other people. He's just being a selfish pest.

One day I might be more organised...........
