  • You do know it would be a lot cheaper to just buy a block of cheese and grate it yourself, don't you?

Oh right, and that justifies a big rise does it?
I am well aware of my options when buying/using cheese.

You do realise supermarkets are allowed to raise the price if the cost of the ingredients increases, if you dont like it then sop somewhere else,

And you do realise what this thread is about?
Its posting and discussing increases as it says. Thats what moneysavingexpert.com is about, we advise we discuss and we point out when something is cheaper elsewhere.
Your comments were really not necessary.
  • Was in another town this afternoon having a look round a much larger Asda than the one in our own town and decided to get some Smartprice flour. I usually use Tesco Value but thought its all the same price so I'll stock up with theirs. Just been checking a few things on the computer and see that Tescos have put up their Value line from 33p to 43p. Another thing I won't be buying there.

Can't believe how much leeks cost this year...especaially at tesco. They seem to be priced along with more exotic veggies now, and i always thought of leeks as a bog-standard winter veggie.
    Just checked the prices:
tesco loose leeks: 2.48 a kilo. 1.99 at morrisons.
tesco butternut squash: 1.29 a kilo. 0.99 at morrisons.

Gonna have to change my shopping habits.
  • Daily Mail propoganda as usual then.

Have you noticed though that all the big offers are always out of stock. One today, tins of Victoria biscuits £9.99 down to £4, just try finding them!

Who would pay £9.99 for a tin of biscuits anyway?! Not even convinced £4 is that cheap, people just buy them becos they've been TOLD they're cheap....

I usually do my big shop in tescos and get offers from other stores if what I need. Thursday I went round tesco thinking I'm not paying that for quite a few items I usually get. Tin of pink salmon from about 80p to £1.54 and school bars up to £1.24 (only £1 in sains) as a couple of examples. Just can't see how such % increases can be justified.

Seems quite a few Tesco forecourts have been'forgotton about' in Norfolk/Suffolk/Cambs.
Even the normally expensive outlets like BP are outdoing them on price.
Britains biggest discounter is a joke.

How about you destroy your clubcard and never go back to tesco at all!!

Rant: Of course, as usual in this Tesco, no-one had bothered to change either the shelf price or remove the massive yellow price comparison showing how cheap Tesco's price was compared to Asda - who had raised their price on the product a few weeks ago.

10 minutes standing in a queue to get the difference refunded, then (despite a looooooong queue of smokers waiting to buy cigarettes) the staff member said she could not accept the yellow price comparison label as proof of the shelf price (I was trying to be helpful) and had to check the shelf herself personally.

How do the staff know you haven't took the SEL kept it then tried to reclaim the difference, Sad I know but it happens
Then she wanted to carry on serving, having me wait for a non-existent staff member to appear (she had not put a call out for help) to check the shelf price -
You'd be the first on here moaning if they didn't serve you whilst doing customer service activities.
what a joke. For the sake of pennies!
I could say the same for you moaning over pennies!
  • The French ones are the red ones in normal use, the "natural coloured" ones are a strange very deep red - almost purple - colour and would look very odd in a cake! The French ones are definitely the ones that I bought for 99p at the end of September!
They don't look odd in a cake - that is the colour that cherries are!! I'd never use the revolting bright red ones - they are mostly food colouring - but the natural ones are usually more expensive, there is always a premium to pay if you don't want your food messed about with.
