Hi Helen. Glad you have joined us. I suggest you start a thread on this board with your question, so that more people will see it and hopefully help.

I wonder if the Brain Injury Trust (think that is the right name?) or MIND could help you. Sorry I can't be more useful - but I'm sure that there is a solution to this! Good luck.

At last Ive found what Ive been looking for, somewhere to get help and advice, but first of all I would like to say Hi to everyone and whatever your disability is, I hope you are all as well as can be expected at this time and for a long time to come.
I have been trying in vain to find out how to get help with getting my son on a proper holiday, he has brain damage and wheelchair bound, but because he wants to go on holiday, he has to have two carers with him and also pay for there fare and hotel, now being on benefits we find this a bit impossible as he has 24/7 and out of his dla money has to pay towards that care, run a home, gas and elec as we all do, so at the end theres very little left to put away. Does anyone know of a group or help that he can get to cover these exrta costs, Im at my wits end going through the internet, please dont suggest his social worker as we have been down that road and told theres no money, Im getting desperate as I really would like my son to at least have one descent holiday instead of a day out at blackpool. Thanking anyone in advance for reading this :T
My addled brain ( acquired brain injury myself )is trying to remember the name of an organisation that takes people on holidays and the carers are all volunteers..ah think it used to be called Winged fellowship now

I don't know how those prices compare but I think they would be an organisation that other charities would be happy to help fund? Local lions has just bought an expensive mobility scooter for my neighbour

I know also in some counties they have what is called 'swopped respite' so the disabled person can go to another part of the country ?

Hope anyof that is of use ;)
