• Just what I was gonna say.

Well that and what teenager has £50 to spend on a jacket which has a knife in it, when they could get a camping knife for less than that?

• I thought along the same lines - it's the Mail on Sunday you've got to watch out for, they're the dangerous ones. I loved the reply listed below the article - says it all really:

In Switzerland people carry knives to remove skin from salami at lunch and other every day functions, because we are civilised people.

From the story you posted
Today the store confirmed it had removed the Swiss-branded coats which came with a penknife attached by a chain as soon as the firm became aware of the issue

So as soon as they discovered the issue they removed the offending items from sale.

What more do you want them to do?

Yes they should have had more rigorous checks and maybe they will now.

It wasn't too long ago that many kids were bought pen knifes from their parents, I'm not saying we should go back to that because there would be far too many problems but pen knifes dont kill people idiots do

My OH and I regularly shop in TK and neither of us are teenagers .

I will happily still shop there.

Why are you worried that no spokesperson has appeared in person?
Where?
On your doorstep.

A mistake, now corrected.

Totally agree with this post, the shop was informed of the issue and fixed it. Same with the sword cane. TK Max is a very good store that cuts back on some things so the price stays down, I'd hate to see that change. The customers should inform them of any problems and as we've seen they will be fixed

Hi all. I hope some of you will have seen this jacket on the news today or recently in the papers.

Although it's been removed from sale now. I am staggered it was ever offered for sale in the first place.

I also hope that you think twice before purchasing anything from TKmax in at least the near future.

I may appear to be overly sensitive to this and I apologies if thats how it appears. I have my own personal reasons.

I emailed my thoughts to customerservice@tkmaxx.com today, a copy posted below.

Dear Sirs.

I have been a regular customer of TKMax over recent years buying directly in
stores mainly for my children and for family members, including vouchers as
presents at Christmas and birthdays. I was appalled to hear on the news that
you had for sale a jacket containing a knife apparently hidden inside.

So disgusted am I to hear this almost unbelievable story I am driven to
write this email. I am seething with anger at the fact that YOU as a company
encourage the youth of the country to carry a knife as a fashion item when
every responsible organization would in fact discourage this. I see this as
an arrogant stamp of approval by your company for KIDS to carry knives in
public when out. Possibly leading to death, harm or prosecution.

What further angers me is the fact no spokesperson has appeared in person or
made reasonable comment with any explanation as to why your company thought
this was an acceptable product to sell in the UK or announce that the
company buyer of this product has not been sacked. Unbelievable!

The seriousness of this and the complete disregard for the safety of your
customers and non customers alike, let alone the complete bad taste of this
product in today's climate of knife crimes including murder and other
deaths, has forced me into the decision NEVER to shop at a TKMax shop or
subsidiary ever again.

I hope you lose more in custom than you made from such a foul, disgusting
product.

I will certainly be encouraging all close and distant family and friends to
boycott your stores in the future.

I, and I hope many other customers will not be falling for the fairy story
that your buyers had no knowledge of the product your were buying to sell to
the British public. Even though you are aware that most of your products
will be purchased by or for children and teenagers.

If there is an award for stupidest most irresponsible clothing company in
the UK then your chief buyers have just secured that award.

Maybe you could arrange a visit for your buyers and others responsible for
this product being sold to visit the Accident and Emergency departments of
the cities in which you ply your disgusting trade. Friday or Saturday night
would be a good choice.

Sincerely
