  • Here here Wireframe... someone talking a bit of sense! Instead of writing to TK Max and complaining write to Gordon Brown and let the coppers, teachers etc put the bloody fear of God into the bloody kids who are stabbing people like it was when I was growing up... the PC bregade has allowed this to happen!!

A penknife can slit someone's throat though and we don't know what experience the OP has of knife crime!! We live in a land where carrying a knife as a fashion acessory is far too common and if it's in your pocket it's all too easy to use it or have it used against you - I'm glad TKM sorted it out quickly

So could an empty tin of Coke lets get onto Sainburys while we are at it .
  • Hi all and thank you for your opinions. Some of which, along with a reply from TKmax have helped me put the subject matter in perspective.

Now time has passed I realise the email I sent was an over reaction. It was a spure of the moment thing I did after a long day\night at work about a subject probably more personal to me than most.

In hindsight, I would not have sent a mail of that tone and content if I had given myself time to think first.

I have of course emailed an apology to TKmax which I copy below.

Thank you for the speedy reply.

I accept that you didn't intentionally offer for sale the coat and knife product and you quickly removed the item from sale. I still think that it was a completely stupid thing to allow this item to reach the shelves, but now believe it was a genuine mistake. I didn't think that when I first heard the news report.

I have re-read my email to you and was shocked at the way I reacted. I think if I had waited a day, had more sleep and thought rationally, I would not have sent an email like that. I think I over reacted to a news story that didn't give a complete picture.

The tone of my previous mail was not something I am proud of and regret writing in that way. To me personally, knives and knife crime are very sensitive issues and this obviously coloured my judgment somewhat. I only saw red.

I apologise for the wording and tone contained in my mail and hope it didn't cause offence to any individual reading it.

    Sincerely.

Its a swiss brand coat, so its associated with the brand of knife. Buy the coat get a free swiss knife. Dont see the problem personally.

What about all the Scots who carry a dagger in their socks when they wear highland dress? Nobody fusses about that...mind you the one my OH has wouldn't cut butter!

I don't understand the fuss. Swiss Army Knives are quite legal to buy, own and use.
If some scum use it for other purposes - well that's a tad unlucky for someone - but if the country starts going along the lines of kicking off whenever there a sharp bit of metal - we'll all be cutting our steaks with a spoon!
Heavens forbid if somebody goes into a Beefeater and orders steaks - the swines hand over sharp knives there!!
