HDD wise you have some options - the "pro" console (currently £140) has a 60gb hard drive, or the elite has 120gb. I play quite a few games and have had the original "premium" console for a couple of years - with a 20gb drive and am not too close to running out of space - so I'd have thought the 60gb is plenty for most people.
If you chose not to buy one with a HDD now you can always add it later - but buying it on its own will cost more than getting it with the console. I guess you could try ebay and the like to try and get it cheaper, though.
Finally, I think you get extra stuff with the pro, you always used to...off the top of my head I think it's pretty much just a headset these days...
I guess what I'm saying, then, is that it's not the end of the world either way - but if you can afford the extra bit of cash for the pro, it will probably be money well spent.
I still don't know what to do.

As a guide, only the *most* casual of users should think about getting the arcade...
My son, it will be for his birthday, 15, I know most people will say to get the dearer one but when he mentioned it a couple of weeks ago he said just get the old one.
Maybe it would be a waste of £100 getting that one if he can't do everything he wants on it.
If they've got the dearer one when I get there I'll get that, OH is moaning though, he says it's too much for his birthday, but by the time you get a few bits and bobs it adds up so why not get what he wants and will use?If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in

If he said "old one" that's a bit ambiguous - the arcade isn't "older" than the other two consoles...the "old one" may have referred to the "old" 20gb premium/pro - the 60gb version is relatively new.
In any case, for a 15yo boy, I'd go for one with a HDD for sure.
It is annoying, the £99 price point is so appealing...but the extra cash will make it a lot more fun for him in the long run.0 -

Yes I've decided on the HDD one, if OH moans I will point out that the extra is what he pays for a match ticket, a match only last an hour and a half.
Have got a friend with a discount card too so he needn't moan so much.If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in
