Were there several in stock? I'm just curious if stores are putting out only one or two.

Yes there was several in stock I was in first thing this morning as I spotted the reduction on xbox forums last night and although none are on display I asked customer services. Couple of hours ago there was at least 5 arcade packs left in Holywood Exchange, Belfast for anyone locally interested. Go get them at that price its a great buy

  • Just got one from Sainsbury's eastbourne, £149.99. I phoned Head office first to check offer and they said that all stores had none left. I then phoned my local eastbourne store who said they had a few in but you need to ask at the service desk.
I am only trying to help

  • I'm confused - the start of this thread says wii's for £99?? then half way through goes to £149? How much are they selling them for?

Its just the Xbox 360 arcade pack that is £99, the other Xbox model & wii's are the higher prices
  • Sorry if anyone has noticed this already, but thought i would post just in case - the sainsbury's price cuts on consoles is not permanent, and they will only reduced until 12th october - that's just over a week so I expect they will be in massive demand!

I've just phoned my local Sainsburys and got the £99.97 Xbox put away until tonight.

Is this good enough or is it worth paying the extra for the other one?
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D

It's good enough, but not ideal for most people - the arcade doesn't come with a hard disk. there are a couple of things that require a hdd (mainly backward compatability for xbox titles) and also you may wish to download stuff - updates, extra content, downloadable games, music, movies etc etc etc - having not much space (I believe the arcade comes with a 512mb memory card iirc) may become annoying if you get into any of these things.

HDD wise you have some options - the "pro" console (currently £140) has a 60gb hard drive, or the elite has 120gb. I play quite a few games and have had the original "premium" console for a couple of years - with a 20gb drive and am not too close to running out of space - so I'd have thought the 60gb is plenty for most people.

If you chose not to buy one with a HDD now you can always add it later - but buying it on its own will cost more than getting it with the console. I guess you could try ebay and the like to try and get it cheaper, though.

Finally, I think you get extra stuff with the pro, you always used to...off the top of my head I think it's pretty much just a headset these days...

I guess what I'm saying, then, is that it's not the end of the world either way - but if you can afford the extra bit of cash for the pro, it will probably be money well spent.
