what does look interesting is tomorrow morning 5am our time, nintendo are giving a press release about the new ds, nobody knows yet what will be in it, but apparantly there will be a mp3 player and a camera on it, so we should be seeing some price reductions on the ds soon then,Dave

I'd like to hear the source of "the 360 is to be replaced next year" comment :) There may be a new revision but as they've only recently got a stable build (rather less RROD ridden) then a completely new console is quite unlikely.

The Nintendo conference was yesterday and lots of info can be found on kotaku

    e.g. http://kotaku.com/5057938/nintendo-conference-round+up

    Quick summary:
DSi released next year sometime in Europe.
Download games to memory card for Wii
Couple of Wii 'hardcore' games revealed
They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.

And in this case I would much rather pay a cheaper price for the current DS than a higher price for the new one - the camera is going to be 0.3 mega pixels or something lame.

Anyone looking to get a console should have a look in Game as they sell second hand ones for quite good prices - and they have a loyalty card scheme so you can collect points for money off. Not sure if they sell preowned consoles online but if they do, there's also Quidco.
  • Does anyone know what stores will be doing this ofer for the xbox for £99, as the only Big Sainsburys near me is Kirkcaldy Fife.
    Thanks

Oh pants - that's not much of a reduction - they are only £179.99 with a free game from woolworths.

Do you have a link to this as I can only find the console itself for £179.99 on their site?

Yeah, I'd be interested to read that source too...

The 360 has a *bunch* of life left in it, as far as I can see - by the scale of the revamp in the autumn update it seems like it's just getting started to me, not winding down...also, there's just 0% chance we could have a new console in a year without even having heard rumours, leaks etc about it now.

I think anyone investing in the 360 has a *good* couple of years play left in it..

This xmas will be the wii's 3rd xmas. Isn't it always the most sought after gift as xmas time?

"sort after".... as in Nintendo are VERY good at creating a lack of product followed by whipping up marketing hysteria, i've no doubt this year will be the same story although a third christmas is now pushing it a bit..... don't be surprised at a reduction in price, reduction in supply and a shortage of Wii Fit's..... just to keep the brand as the 'talk of the pub' ;)

I just got a 60GB for £144 along with tiger woods 09 at half price (£17.49) from HMV duty free at Stanstead airport.
Worth considering if you or anybody you know are popping out of the country for any reason....???
