    HI All,

    I really need some help.

    I am with Virgin at the moment on TV-L, TEL- M & BB - M(2mb) and paying £37 a month I think.

Just looking at my options and trying to decide on whether to go for SKY HD?

or stick with Virgin and re-negotiate?

I know that Sky are offering:-

    Sky Basic - £16.50 + £1 for extra pack.

    Phone = £10.00 (line rental)

Sky HD £10 pack = £9.70 ( Sky sports and Sky movies)

    in total - £37.00.

    So do people think?

    any advise appreciated.

    Thanks

    Spikey

Hi Spikey, I have just got Sky+ and happy with it, I have got the basic package + 1, medium broadband, and Sky freetime (free evening and weekend calls) for £22.50 per month. I got the Sky+ box and installation free as I found a refer a friend code, they have also given me 1 month's free full package so I'm taking advantage of the movie channel whilst I have it :D

Then you need to check what Sky will charge you for BT line install, because that's how you will receive your broadband-it doesn't come via the satellite dish!
And as just advised, if Sky are LLU on your exchange? Check on samknows.com
BTW do you not know what you are currently paying Virgin?-bit difficult to make a meaningful comparison if not.

hmm you don't need a BT line you can just pay your line rental direct to Sky...as long as there has been a BT line at your property at some time in the past there shouldn't be an installation fee....and even if there is it is always negotiable!

The sky line is £10 a month...but haggle with them and you can end up with a year free like I got :D

So what do Sky now charge to install the line then?
It is still technically a BT line even if Sky install it.

My decision to go with VM was based on poor broadband speed with SKy < < 2mb> and poor signal with TV, sound and vision often not in sync, programes broke etc, despite being assured equipment and dish was working well.

My biggest beef is I was led to believe I could port my existing phone number from Sky to VM, despite being assured this was happening via SEVERAL phone calls when the switch came I was told this is impossible and the number is lost (for good) - even BT cannot reissue it to me as they say its a "linked line" whatever that is.

VM even installed a "temporary number" when TV/Broadband was installed which they NOW deny was temp. All this wheeling and dealing was done over the phone with no real written proof, why should I lie????

I have opened a complaint with OFCOM about being misled by VM which is going to cost me a fortune in reprinted literature.....

Having said that VM seems tons better for quality, although program choice is a lot less than Sky - much to my wife's annoyance rather than mine.

Any ideas as to what I can do if anything to get back my original number?
