Virgin - 2 for £25, Large tv & 2MB broadband, set up voip for telephone ;)

    or

XL tv, 2MB bb & landline with weekend landline calls £40.50

^which is still cheaper than the full sky package with free BB before BT line rental
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

I am looking to combine my TV,Broadband and Telephone in the new year.

    I am currently on:
    Sky tv
Bt Broadband (very happy, just slower than it could be)
    Talk Talk Phone

I want to move all together to save money and to upgrade my Tv package and Broadband speed.

The Top 'Sky' package and the Top 'Virgin broadband' package are my two choices.
Price wise - there is little to choose between them.
Internet speed - Virgin much Quicker.
Tv package - Have Sky now and worried about any future tiffs between the two that would endanger a full sky package on Virgin.

Simply put - which is the more reliable and better value of the two in your opinions ?

    Any thoughts would be apprieciated.

    Thanks.

As you have a BT line, SKY IMO,
    however the fact is
Virgins BB is generally better - SKY+ is better than v+, and i think the phone tariffs are the same, however sky edges it if u ring a lot internationally eg usa canada and australia

the Tv package with SKY+ is 17-47, Evening and weekend calls are free(add a % for unlimited calls with free international calling), line rental is 10, and BB is anything from free(for 2mb) middle is 5(for 8mb), max is 10(16mb)

Internet speeds with sky also depends on how far u live from the exchange whereas virgin's doesn't. Be warned with virgin bb tho, they have started capping heavy users unless they have the XL packages. So if u play a lot of games online or some other illegal things, you would probably be better either staying with sky or taking the XL package.

Call Sky Retentions they will sort you out with a deal to combine your telephone line rental / calls and broadband. I did this and they gave me a free upgrade to the £5 per month unlimited calls anytime package... A few months later I called them and they have now given me free line rental for 12 months.... Great Service so far!!! so I pay the following:

    Sky Tv (1 Mix) £16.50
    Sky BB Basic £0.00
    Sky Line Rental £0.00
Sky Talk Unlimited (normally £5) £0.00

    Total = £16.50 per month!!

    Highly recommended!!
  • i've just gone accros with sky and would recommend as well .( not some thing i'd ever think about them but there you go )

Had Virgin BB and Phone since early summer, added the V+ just before Xmas. I would say that whilst Sky+ is quicker at changing channels etc, V+ offers more. There is no "On Demand" service with Sky, but with the V+ there is lots, as well as the BBC iPlayer. V+ does fall short on HD content though!!

All in all I am glad I changed, but there seems to be a fair amount people migrating both ways back and forth, so it does not look like one is significantly better then the other.

  • A couple of months ago i got a Virgin Media package (couldn't get sky broadband included - needed to pay extra for different type in my area, or something)

Top TV Package, V+ box, Broadband, phone line, unlimited calls for £35 a month.

Its the best service i have ever had, i wont be looking to change in a hurry.

Did you get this deal as a new customer? and did you need to pay for the box.

I'm with Sky + at the moment but am thinking of going to Virgin as i'm not in contract anymore with Sky.

Am looking for the whole lot - V +, unlimited calls, line rental and broadband but don't know if it is worth changing as there is a £75 charge for the + box aswell.
Just under £20,000 in debt and struggling!!
  • Kevin - do you have the landline number for Sky retentions as I can't find it on their website.

In general, do people think that it's cheaper to get all three services (TV, BB and phone) from the same supplier? I'm in the same boat as Sam7, but am tempted by the new O2 deal. However, it's the Sky TV that's expensive because of the sports package. Is it best to ring and threaten to cancel and hope that they'll offer us something cheaper? Thanks for your help and advice.
