  • I have been an O2 customer for years, from sim only deals, PAYG and now contract pay monthly. I rang last year for an upgrade in September and was told that the phone I wanted was only on an 18 month contract. I didn't want to be tied for 18 months, so I refused (flatly) and said I would only consider a 12 month contract. I came to the end of the discounted 12 month contract, threw away the sim and contacted O2 to arrange disconnection because my company offered to give me a mobile. O2 said that I was on an 18 month contract and would have to pay a fee to be released from contract. I have been nice, argued, spoke to managers, different call handlers and even contacted 'ofcom' and the O2 complaint department. I am lost as what to do now. I am being charged a non discounted rate have no sim, I haven't used the number for 2+ months and O2 haven't sent the replacement sim as promised. I am being robbed, hand over fist. WHAT CAN I DO??? ANYONE?? Should I cancel my DD?? Will I end up in court??

why on earth did you throw the sim away before cancelling????

whatever you do, do not cancel your direct debit. They will send the debt collectors around, and ruin your cedit rating at the same time
  • I'm currently 6 months in on an orange £35 a month contract I want to cancel the contract because I cant get any signal in my home so the phone is useless when at home, The only way i can get use is to go into the loft, not very helpful when people want to talk to you. I called orange and they were less than helpful the would only allow me to drop one level of tarrif to £30 a month and to cancel and port my number now would cost £160 which I was hoping i could reduce. Any advice as i'm not getting full use of my phone becuase i have no signal. I live in south London in a well populated area, Orange tell me there is an issue with the transmitter but it's been this way since i joined orange they couldn't tell me when It would be fixed either ? They also suggested I went and got a moblie signal boster for my house. I just want out to a provider like O2 who signal is perfect in my home
  • I am currently on a 24 month deal, £25 tariff with O2 which runs out in May 2010. I want to switch from my current phone to an Apple iPhone, and looking for tips on the best way to do it. I can't switch with them until April, so wondering iof it's worth buying out of O2 contract, and looking for a better deal from Orange or Carphone warehouse?
  • Hello i have read this article on reducing my tarrif to the lowest one. I have since been in contact with Orange and they have told me i can only downgrade my tarrif by one. I.E i was paying £40/month and they will only downgrade me to £35 a month. This is no help to me at all.

Does anyone know if i can go to the lowest tarrif by law or is it upto orange???

If some one could help me on this i would be very gratefull...

    thanks :)

The terms of downgrading during the life of the contract would have been spelt out in the contract you initially signed, and are up to Orange to decide. I believe that they have had such a downgrade policy for some time.

Networks are known to change their downgrade policies though, and usually the changes apply to all customers, including those mid-contract (If someone knows better do correct me if I am wrong on this).
