  • My daughter came to the end of her O2 UK contract & wanted to upgrade. There was an offer with O2 UK ( 750 text, 750 mins but paying for the 'phone W810i). However on O2 online the same offer came with the free upgrade 'phone.
Started a contract with O2 online but then discovered could not keep her mobole no. & when the 'phone arrived it did not work properly.
She posted the 'phone back within the 14 days grace & opted for the O2 UK contract.
I was a bit surprised to get an e-mail from O2 stating I owed them £600.

After numerous 'phonecalls they say they have not received the 'phone( my daughter did not do recorded delivery) & the sum included the total line rentla contract + 'phone cost.
O2 confirm 'phone has not been used since June.
Have I any recourse as O2 say I must prove that I have sent it back?

I'm afraid they may be right....

Did you get a certificate of posting? that might be something......

Without it, no way to prove that you sent it. As far as 02 are concerned you could have kept it/flogged it etc.

For future reference use Special delivery for valuable items.
  • Hi Elliot
I only got a mobile through them in June and have had the same problem trying to contact them lately. Yesterday I came a cross a forum http://www.innovation-station.net/archives/2006/08/14/just3g-communications-cashback-problems/
I have found out on this that some people in the past have managed to get their chashbacks on small claims court. Recently people who have tried to send their bills to the company address and are being return to sender.
I believe now because of no being able to be contacted at their address they can not be taken to court nor be reported to trading standard, which leaves us in a limbo.
I have been trying to find out if it is possible to terminate the contract with 3 themselves. I am only into my 4th month and I don't realy want to loose anymore money if it can be helped. If you have any suggestion that can help I'll be grateful.

  • Help!!!! Has anyone tried to terminate or reduce a contract with 3 before?
I got a mobile with Just3G in June. I've now learned in the last couple of days this company has been a bit of a nightmare to say the least. For the pass few months a number of people have taken them to small claims court to get their cash backs. Now in the last month or so when people have tried to send the claims form with their bills to the company address they have been return to sender with the 'gone away' reply.
I believe because of this the company can not be taken to court, well it is possible and people might win by default but it wont achieve anything as they are not there!
I am only into my 4th month of the 12 month contract with 3 paying £45 per month. Is there anyway to be able to terminate my contract? Is it possible to reduce the tariffs? Has anyone been in a similar position?
I just don't what it to scale any further if something can be done now.
    Any suggestions will be grateful.

  • All I'm doing is sending a letter to them. Therefore, its a legal document. If the dont reply, I will terminate my existing contract and cancel my direct debit. May take them to small claims court but thats £80 min to go there.

I think Just3G have gone bankrupt as maybe they didnt think people would be smart enough to send all the right cash back.

Can anyone suggest a cheap or free cashback 12 month contract for the sony w850i? Scene any good deals on the net?

Be aware that 3 have without notification (it has upset a lot of people) have imposed a £25 charge to downgrade to the next tarif , you cant drop straight down to the lowest , you can only do it by step ie about £5 per month but they will charge you the £25 per month on top so in essence you are paying £25 to drop £5 / £10 so its not worth it . This has been argued that it is a detrimental change and by rights 3 customers can cancel their contract under a section but 3 say the downgrade policy isnt written and so they havent changed the contract also otello say 3 are in their rights to do it !

A lot of mobile phone shops sell higher tarrifs and tell you , you can downgrade after the 6 months on a 12 month tarrif 3 have now changed this !

The problem with 3 is they change the terms and conditions but didnt tell anyone but put the change on their website by just changing the terms so if you didnt read them you wouldnt know, the argument is they should have written to customers but their is a bit in their terms that say they can change without notification - 3 have my money till august them they are losing a long term customer "

    what do people think :money:
  • Hi mancuk29

I have tried to lower my tariff and was told I would have to pay £25 or extend my contract by 6 months!!!! After being told this I will never go with three again, they are just shafting customers which I think is disgraceful.
I can't see how they can change things with no notification.

  • Hi Hellokittykitty and Manc29uk

I've just read your messages after calling 3 to try and downgrade and have been told the same things you have. I'm really angry. After looking at my bill for the last few months and realising that I'm not using all my texts or minutes I decided to downgrade and have been told that I have to pay for the privilege. It is outrageous. I have done it before with 3 and didn't have to pay. How can it all of a sudden now cost £25 when it was done free of charge before.
  • Hi Hellokittykitty, manc29uk , egbunting

I'm a foreign student in Glasgow. I've tried to downgrade my tariff with 3 and was told the same thing. I'll be paying £35 month. This really upsets me because I was offered 6 months half-price line rental promotion and was informed that I can downgrade after 6 months. I chose 3 because the offer suited my very tight budget. Now I have to pay extra for my bills and thus reduce my alloted money for food

One thing for sure, I will not recommend 3 to anyone
  • can anyone help me!!

i need to get out of a vodaphone contract.
only just got it, but you know what its like i was to busy looking at the shiny phone to really think what i was doing signing up to a contract.
however, the new phone was brought sim free an therefore i got just a sim from vodafone an was told i would receive £100 bill credit.

now i need to end the contract an they wont let me as im passed the 14 days (started contract 4 june). But their saying i dont have £100 bill credit attached to the account. so is it possible for me to end the contract on the grounds that i was mis-sold the account with the idea/ promise of the bill credit which is no longer being offered???
how do i go about proving this tho. i have a copy of the contract that has the bill credit written on the top by the women that sold me the contract.

    just too confused!!!
