hi could anyone tell me about direct parcel distribution i have booked them for 2 collections tomorrow do i have to make my own labels and are they reliable?
thanks0 -
Anyone used Cheap Parcel Delivery UK on ebay before?
Booked them for today but nobody showed
DPD are fine, I believe their bookings are now automated with DHL. If it's a U.K parcel, you don't have to print any labels the DHL driver will do all that. You do have to address the parcel though.0 -

DHL collections are reliable, however be aware that Direct Parcel Distribution are currently misleading customers about insurance on the parcels - in practice, when contents get damaged they reject your claim based on of their terms and conditions (you must agree to them before shipping) which state that you (the sender), must review contents when the parcels get delivered at the other end of the route and delivery slip must be signed as "damaged" or there is no come back. The chance of sender reviewing contents at receiving end is roughly one in never, ever, and so is the chance of recipient reviewing them before signing, so.. buyer beware situation. There are cheaper alternatives with normal terms and conditions out there.0 -

Damage claims from couriers is notoriously difficult.0 -

Damage claims from couriers is notoriously difficult.
I know claims are difficult. Happened to me twice already with DHL this year. However, normally, the T&C of most couriers and many DHL resellers, stipulate recipient should sign all parcels as unchecked when they are not able to check contents when the driver delivers. In case the packaging is clearly damaged it should be signed for as damaged.
But this is very particular case. First, according to Direct Parcel Distribution own T&C's it is them who will reimburse you, you don't have to pass any photos or fill up DHL forms yourself.
10.2 “Direct Parcel Distribution shall pay compensation to the Customer for loss of or damage up to the limits for the Service selected by the Customer at the time of booking as set out in Condition 11 subject to the provisions of this Condition 10 and satisfaction of Condition 12”
but the condition 12 practically makes it impossible (original spelling btw):
12.2 “Direct Parcel Distribution requires that you check all packages for damage BEFORE you sign for them and if there is any damage please sign the package off as damaged when you recive it or it will invalidate any claim for compensation. “
As in - as the set of rules agreed between Sender and Agent it obligates sender (or in worse interpretation, the Recipient, which is in no way present at point of agreement) to be aware of the fact they have to hold the van, assemble the goods and check if there is any damage. I just had a claim rejected on those grounds by dpd (no correlation with real DPD)0 -

Yes, and its still missing in the main 1st post, bit unfair IMO as it should be listed to give people choice and let them make there own minds up to use them or not, and there is £5 Quidco available too.0 -

DPD accept only parcels with following dimensions: 50x50x60cm.
That's why I wouldn't accept them but two others should be fine.0
