Flags and national borders are merely temporary Human constructs. In the end we will come to think of ourselves as Humans of planet Earth, with no barriers or borders.
The sun has I think 5bn years left. Homosapiens have only just emerged, we are just in infancy and have far to go.

Think how different we are from 200 years ago, then imagine what we will be like in 200 yrs, 2000 yrs, 20,000 yrs, 20million years and so on.

All these infant tantrums will be little more than a distant dim echo in the shrouds and depths of time.

People cling to infant notions of culture and history attatching imports to barriers and ways of being without realising we are right at the beginning. 1000 years of history to us seems to bring with it entrenched cultural anchorage, but it is nothing its just a blink.
In 50,000 years it will be all but forgotton, in 500,000 in 5m just imagine.......

I would say in 5,000 years we will have colonised many other planets within goldilocks zones, and those less habitable we will have learned to alter.
We will then drift into separate planetary races, light years from one another. All these petty spuabbles we have now will be just footnotes in some old text book.

but as long as we look to the past or the future, the here and now will have no meaning. it just leads to apathy, we sit and wait for a saviour or a change tocome, & plan for the future at the expence of the now. maybee we just need to seize the day and get cought up in the moment.

Sue, you sound pretty switched on so I expect you know, but just in case - have you looked into all your options for financial and practical support etc? http://www.carersuk.org/Home are good for information.

There's money in the form of carers grant available to provide breaks and time out from caring. In fact the govt are just in the process of passing another £50m out to PCTs and local authorities for carers, due in April next year, with a further £100m the following year.

Information on this new money should be available via social services and GP surgeries.

it's not like the police stopped you protesting, or charged the crowd. if that had happened maybe there would be something to complain about.

By the way I wasn’t complaining it was an observation.

It was aimed at linking to my point about reading the book at the end of my post

Whether you like it or not,
You, I, and everyone else are looked upon in the same light by the powers that be.

Haven't looked into respite for the last year or so as I gave up the battle after a rather horrendous battle with social services over 2 years ago where they really put me through the ringer and at the end of it all (once my confidence was zero and I felt broken as a person) they turned around and said what a wonderful person and parent I was and would I like to run a support group for others who had children with autism!

So I have no respite, no breaks and can't even get out to the pub or meet up with friends even once a month (just about manage once a year) without the children being present...so not a fun life really and one which makes me desperate to escape into work (even though financially I would probably be worse off) just for adult conversation and something outside of the home.

As for childcare while I work, the one thing social services did do was to check around the local childminders (for respite mainly at that point) but got big fat no's from all of them. I check every 4 months or so to see if they have changed their minds...still with a big fat no in reply and this is despite them advertising they take on special needs!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
