Thought I'd share this with you all. OH just bought two pairs of trainers for £40 with free delivery. I had a look but I've just got new kit.

Well, I got my shoes! the assistant was great and he made me try probably 7 or more pairs of shoes. I have tried every single brand in the shop. I had videos taken with most of them.

The first run was with a neutral shoe and iot showed that I am over pronating a lot. So I was suggested to try stability/guidance shoes and the difference was amazing. In the end my favourite shoe was Nike Zoom Structure Triax+13, which cost me £80! I don't mind as there were feeling the lightest, best support and best fit of all I tried. I tried the next one up from Nike and it was not so comfy - much more bounce in the shoe, if you know what I mean, and just felt much less supportive. So I am happy with my purchase!

    My new shoes:

Oh - and I am of for a run later today! Can't wait to try them!

Wasn't so bad really. Need to get new running clothes though, mine are all too warm because last time I was running in winter.

Can anyone help me with a hunt for new running trousers? I've had a good pair of wicking Adidas for the last 6 months but they're now too big and I'm struggling to find replacements. I'd ideally not like skin-tight tights but the problem i am having is that I'm 5' 1" and every pair I try on are too long. The Adidas ones I have are in a 'short' size but everytime I google "running trousers shorts" I keep getting running shorts!!! I've tried sports shops and my local running shop too

Hi guys, well I finally got back to trying to run again today after my injury - I'm seeing the sports masseur on Tuesday so figured I needed to see if anything was causing me a problem before I went to him :) Went back to the last week 5 run and did 20 mins which felt tough enough, not helped by the fact that it was mizzling (it's glorious now) and I ended on a little hill that nearly killed me - and I do mean little! If all goes well I might re-attempt the 25 minuter on Tuesday.

kiraroo re running trousers, I'm wearing the 3/4 length ones from Marks and find them comfy but I suspect they aren't the proper wicking material. I'm only 5.2 and I think this is probably the best way around the length issue. Although they do look a bit weird length wise if I'm honest but I'm never going to make model of the year on the running front :)

Ginvtz how are the new shoes? I need to do this too. PepPop I'm always wary of buying shoes online but then I do have crappy knees so need something proper to support my feet :) would be lovely to be able to bargain hunt.

Welcome Tia - I don't use the podcast either but just time myself using my running watch (inherited from DH since he always has to have the top range wizardry) alas Ginvitz I can't offer any advice on it except to echo idiophreaks point, it is a man's and it feels way too big on my wrist but I'm not about to shell out £100 for something that I basically use as a watch - have never sat down and figured out all the functions.

How's everyone else getting on? Let's hope this is us all back up and running!

Oh and as a PS just spotted a sign for the 5k I was hoping to do which is 2 weeks early this year - 31 March. Do you think I should give it a go and walk some of it or not? I'll never be ready to run it all in time...

    And well done Drea!

Hello everyone. Welcome back Belfastgirl23. Hello kiraroo. Sorry I can't help with the trousers, i actually wear a pair of geroge trousers that were shrunk in the wash and a sweatshirt that I have just worked out is at least 21 years old:eek: but it is comfy. Love the shoes ginvzt if I keep this up I will investigate shoes for myself but at the moment I need to know it is not a fad. Welcome tia_24 always room for someone else and hello to drea...well done on gettting into it again
Got up at 6.00am this morning and was running by 7.00am. Had to fit it in before taking my dd to netball. It felt good. I did week 2 again and I didn't find it too difficult at all so I will start week 3 on Tuesday. Was feeling really good until I fell over just walking along the road and cut my hands and knees:oOff to do the garden for my parents ina minute so I guess I might be a bit stiff tomorrow.
My heart monitor told me that my maximum performance and fat burn are improving:D I used enough calories to eat a bar of chocolate(not that I would of course) and that I can now do this run without going out of zone 3, which when I first started I was off the scale!!! Just thought I would share this to show you how it motivates, if you are still thinking of getting one.
    Keep going everyone.:)
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D

Kiraroo had a look when I was in town today and actually it says that the M&S trousers are proper wicking ones - here's a link in case you want a look

    http://www.marksandspencer.com/Active-Performance-Cropped-Jogging-Bottoms/dp/B000JQ3OQ2?ie=UTF8&qid=1269189009&categoryNodeID=42967030&ref=sr_1_6&page=&node=43118030&sr=1-6&mnSBrand=core&rh=n%3A43118030%2Cn%3A53587031

They cost £18 but it's worth looking on the discount codes board if you decide to order :)

edited to say that they also seem to do a range of short activewear too, legs are maybe a bit wider than the nike bottoms you like though...
