  • Hi everyone!

As i've said on other thread my DB and I are moving into our first home next month. This challenge sounds perfect for us to live within our means and have a good chunk left over to tackle our debts.

So in preparation I will try keep to the £331.50 for November and December.

But if people are thinking of doing this for 2009 - COUNT ME IN!!!!!

whitewing ssshhhh , nyk's working. If loads of people put posts on, the page will move on and she might not notice :rotfl:

17 very large portions of broth frozen and a good panful left to feed my visitors tomorrow. So cheap considering all the ingredients were in the cupboard except the lamb shank which cost me 75p in the local butchers. It's full of vegs which I would have relegated to the compost bin a year ago before joining this forum :j

I wonder if I could live off soup for the next year? If I reckon the soup cost me about £1.50 including fuel to make and I have got about 19/20 or more portions to eat that's a cheap way of eating.
Of course, I would die of boredom.

Anybody got a recipe for chocolate soup?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You think I don't have this running in the background CONSTANTLY? :D Janey! Imagine YOU, of all people, making sure I noticed that post, especially after having been witness to my crime of the decade - paying £1.75 for a loaf of bread and shrugging it off as a special treat. But It was worth it! :rotfl:

I've just had estate agent on phone checking over things for the housemove and the new landlady (apologies for calling her landlord previously) was about to remove and THROW OUT the livingroom carpet! She didn't think anyone would want it, as it looked ruined to her. Then they asked if we wanted the vinyl from kitchen removed and binned! I know that none of you know what it looks like, but I have seen it and trust me, it's much, much better than no carpet and no vinyl. Rescue mission now in place! Imagine if we'd had to carpet the place as soon as we got there! Phew! Narrow escape. The chimney sweep is going in next week and then it's move-in time the following week. :D It'll be a major upheaval again, but I am positive it's the right move and that it will all be worth it. We just need to splash out on a washing machine, a cooker, a livingroom suite, some rugs, curtains and blinds, wardrobes, shelves and whatever other odds and ends we don't own as we've been renting either furnished or partially furnished for the past 5 years, so it really is like a new beginning. :j

You've got Mr A as the cheapest - is this the store you first put in? If so the store that's put in will always come out the cheapest perhaps due to own brand not being in the other stores

Just thought i would do a test run doing Mr T as first one in, and Mr A still came out as the cheaper option. Guess it all depends on what is on the list.

Good morning all, warm welcome the new testrunners.

I've tried the price comparison site too and it must totally depend on what you buy. No matter into which I enter my items first, Mr T, Mr A and Mr S come out the same (max 50 p difference) and only Mr O is a lot more expensive. So I think I stick with Mr T because there I get point and ecoupons etc.

Hi guys, postie just delivered my free sample of Radox 'shower smoothies', courtesy of P!gsback and it smells delicious! :D On the reverse of the tube it has a 'Sara Lee' logo, so am I right in assuming that the cheesecake / gateaux / lemon meringue pie people are actually the same company as the bath salts people? I didn't know that :)

Must check out the comparison sites for groceries, but I'll need to pretend I live elsewhere if it asks for a postcode.

Prudent - nice to see you back, I hope the foot mends soon and isn't too painful.

Edited in: I just did one of those supermarket comparisons and WOW! Mind you, I wonder how Mr O would compar with Mr Co! :D Here are the results I got:

    Mr T - £38.60
    Mr A - £43.59
    Mr S - £48.31
    Mr O - £64.71

    Wow,

You have all been very chatty since I was on yesterday, I had 2 full pages to read!! Welcome to the new people!!

I've been trying to put the shop back together after being out at night all this week and am about half way there. It is pouring here again, so not a lot of customers to be had, but never mind, it should pick up soon enough!!

DH has asked me to look out for a nintendo Wii for him, he is a gadgetman spendthrift, but of course I will try and get the best price I can. Has anyone any ideas?
