Hello all,
Disaster on frugalising front: chocolate for elevenses, lunch at canteen, wine with supper.Ok on positive note: own coffee and yoghurt taken to college for breakfast, supper from fridge and freezer - preparation time 5 min
nom nom
Not done anything from my long todo list. Will give it another go this weekend.
At college today I was cleaning ferrets. While cleaning them we need to try to stop chickens to get into ferret hutches. I had to remove several while scooping up ferret poo. Also we were doing health checks on guinea pigs and then afterwards took them out for a walk in harnesses !!!!! It was so funny. Turkey family were so interested in the piggies that we had to fend them off but when it came to chickens the piggy I was walking was chasing her. Can you imagine this little piggy chasing chicken and me running in behind in the end of the lead. :rotfl:
I made a big mistake tonight for not putting DD into her bed and instead allowed her to fall asleep in mine. Sometimes when trying to make things easier when I am tired I end up making things more difficult for myself in the long run. I think I better go and join her soon thou.
I have two bingo sites running but don't have much hope. I tried to get on third one but was unsuccessfull.
Good and relaxing evening everybody!!

Marru just jump back on the Frugal Flyer and don't worry about a few blips. Chocolate is worth falling off for :rotfl:
Re oil prices falling. I heard a comment on Radio 4...yes, I did defect from Radio 2 briefly...that the OPEC lot were meeting soon to discuss cutting back oil production so that world prices would stay high.
How underhand is that?
See how intellectual our discussions become on here at times
So, it will probably be like utility prices. The companies blame the price of oil when they raise prices but go very quiet when oil prices fall.
Could someone tell me if using 30 units of Electric in 4 days seems OK?
Notice how I can never stick to one subject0 -
Janey, I used to store tins in sealed plastic boxes in a little shed at previous address (last year) and they seemed fine. Even the sealed packs of pasta etc were OK.
I've always stockpiled to a certain level because we haven't lived anywhere near a major supermarket for the past 8 years, so this year's surplus helped save a little bit extra on travel costs. Sadly, there's no way I could get the kind of bulk bargains that Sophiesmum can get, hence the reason my stockpile needed to be topped up constantly. Over a year, I reckon it could save me between £100 and £200, so I'll be doing this next year. It'll also help (hopefully) when the new Aldi's is built, IF their prices are better than Co-op.
Have now raked out some more odds and ends to begin shredding them as stuffing for the draught excluders and will be requesting DS has a clear out this weekend. Getting impatient to start, so may just start stitching soon
Marru - my overspends on groceries this month included far too much chocolate and too many packs of crisps! It's a temporary blip caused by continuous miserable weather and the impending clock changes. Those are my excuses for the rest of this month. :rotfl:
Back again - Janey, 30 units of electricity in 4 days? Wow! Well done! I use more than that in a day here.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Thanks for the info on balance transfers, Shaz. It was indeed what I wanted to know. Think Virgin might be The One For Me.
Went a bit mad in Mr S's earlier. Bought a whole (small) brie cheese with herbs because it was reduced....and ate the lot in one go! Hanging my head in shame....On the other hand I just made a huge pot of very cheap chicken and veg soup (free range chicken, on offer) so all is not lost.
I was thinking, anyone reading my posts must think I'm very hypocritical, or maybe have a split personality...I give info on vegan sites but also eat stewed sheeps' hearts and brie! The explanation is that I swap eating styles when I feel like it. It's inconsistent, but still cheaper and healthier than being a consistent meat-eater and when I switch over from one to the other, I really enjoy the change.
Having eaten the sheeps' hearts I am having another little go at Austerity eating and have just bought a pack of semolina. I know lots of people can't stand semolina pud but I love it....:p and I have shedloads of BOGOF jam (H*rtley's, from Mr M) to eat with it. All I need now is one of those old-fashioned paisley pinnies.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

What's 'austerity eating'? (Going to google it now)
I love semolina pudding, as does DS and, now, OH2B.
Don't mock the pinnies, I bought 2 off eBid last month, they just weren't Paisley patternI reserve the right not to spend.

I'm really looking forward to getting somewhere big enough for me to start stockpiling food! All I have now is one tiny cupboard
Still, I've managed to nab a bit more freezer space now, which I've already filled with reduced bread! Still, housemates do have their advantages, she gave me a chocolate brownie the other day
I was a bit naughty on the chocolate eating too - I had about £5 left in my £80 grocery budget for the month, so spending £1 on chocolate was very bad. But it is soooo yummy. All I need is some milk and fruit to get me to the end of the month so I ought to stay within budget - unless I need more chocolate. I think it's the dark nights, it just makes me want to sit indoors by a real fire and have cups of tea and eat chocolate. Unfortunately we don't have a real fire here, I have to visit my Nana for that!
We lost our chickens the other day, panic time, thought they might have escaped or something had eaten them! Eventually we found them fast asleep in the rabbit hutch, looking very cosy. :rotfl:Live on £11k in 20110 -
I went to google austerity eating too, and wished I hadn't....yuk.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
