Don't know if anyone else has spotted this yet, I've signed up and ordered a solar powered clock/thermometer and also went through a link for 2 free lightbulbs, as it lists WTC as a qualifying 'benefit'.

MUMZY - the Radox samples were promoted via P!gsback - points for applying for free sample. It was fairly recent, so maybe check on the Radoc site and see if it's still available.
Also, someone already posted that there are double scratchcards today, so don't forget to check :)

(Thanks again for that, I went back into Butl!ns and won another 10p. :D)

  • Welcome cornishfens and little_miss_moneysaver :T

I've just realised that as a result of my getting a bike tomorrow (:D) I will now have both an Aldi and an Asda within striking distance, whereas at the minute it's only a Sainsbury's, which is quite exciting; I'll have to start doing my mysupermarket comparisons! Sainsbury's has definitely gotten more expensive since last term and they's discontinued a lot of basics stuff, so the extra choice will be good. I'm guessing Aldi will be best but it's the furthest, maybe 10/15 mins to cycle (which is a long way when the town is so small :p).

My parents are getting me the bike and a lock as my Christmas present (which is super nice of them :A) so I'll need to pay for a helmet and a basket and probably some other accessories like lights and reflective strips... hopefully it shouldn't add up to too much  My budget is already looking dreadful due to all the 'beginning of year' stuff I've had to shell out for but the underlying spends aren't bad at all so fingers crossed it should be OK once it averages out over the year.

Hey, at least you did in fact save yourself the £8, whitewing :) I did a similar thing - I'm going down to London for my mum's birthday in a couple of weeks and I was thinking that I couldn't be bothered to get the coach and would pay for the train which is c.£16 but I told myself off and booked coach tickets for £8.50 instead :o

My £5 M&S voucher still hasn't come, I'm feeling very left out  I need teatowels but am waiting for the voucher to buy them!! Have a feeling my mum may not have bothered forwarding it from home, thinking that it's junk mail. Never mind. I got a No 7 mascara for £3.40 today following a tip from this site so I'm not doing too badly

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I'm having a free meal from a law firm tonight and then OH is coming down :T

Thanks for the 'heads up' to that link Nyk :)

"DH" has now applied for the free bulbs -- I wouldn't get anything dependant on benefits, but his DLA opens loads of doors for things like that ;)

Currently torn between the dynamo torch (practical, but only uses 600 of 'our' 750 credits) or the clock/thermometer you've gone for. Would have like more info on that really, so I know how much sun it needs to work for a full day/night -- but hey! it's free, so I think that's what I'll be going for and to heck with practicalities for once :rolleyes2

ETA: Yep! 2 scratch cards today. 10p on my first, and just been back to check and got 20p on my second :)

Edited again: one clock ordered. read terms & conds, and doesn't seem to restrict to one account per household ;) now debating a dynamo torch.......

  • DH has asked me to look out for a nintendo Wii for him, he is a gadgetman spendthrift, but of course I will try and get the best price I can. Has anyone any ideas?

    Hi Lynne,

Not sure of prices exactly but I have seen second hand reconditioned ones in a games shop, do you know the place where they sell lots of games for consoles etc? Also if you have one of those shops which will buy things like that and sell them on. Maybe be a bit cheaper? Or maybe on Ebay?

nyk - I went for the lightbulbs as well, but I ordered the magic stapler.

mumzyof2 - I saw HSM3 yesterday with my 2 youngest kids, it's very good. My DS (7) and DD (6) have been pretending to be Sharpay and Ryan all day :rotfl:

Thanks everyone who did the supermarket price test. I'll give Mr T a go after my next online shop as Mr S kindly gave me a free £10 voucher for being nearly 2 hours late the last time I used them (apparently the van broke down, then the replacement van was "held up" in an accident)

cw, you try googling the name of the product - I have, so have been able to find out a little more before I chose. Thanks for the link Nyk.

Weighing up whether to go for a 'no fresh milk' mini challenge for the next months grocery bill. I've plenty of skimmed powered milk and I'm wondering if we could survive on that. Mainly use it on tea and evening cereal. I use the 41p a litre UHT & hm yog for cooking and OH cereal already. Could save £3.66 and I have to keep this grocery bill down. Depends if I can sell the idea to OH. I suppose £3.66 doesn't sound very much...
Also, I'm sure someone has written somewhere that they freeze yog they later intend to use as starter for HM yoghurt. I can't get my head round the science of that: surely that wouild kill all the friendly bacteria that convert milk to yoghurt? I'd be grateful if someone could tell me if it worked. If so, I could stockpile some very cheap yogurt from asda.
Interesting results from mysupermarket.com from you all. My asda shop always comes up cheapest and I was a bit disappointed when it appeared this may be misleading. I guess the only way to be sure is do the same shop with another choice and see what it says.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Thanks for that Nyk :T, just ordered my clock and free lightbulbs and I noticed we'll also be able to get another freebie :D

I got one of those within the last week..... the local police were set up in our Co-Op security marking mobile phones. Had mine done (changed handset since they were last around), and got 2 bulbs plus one of these (sponsored by Eon there as well) for doing so ;)

Can't use them on laptops though, which means no good for me. "Offered" it DS, and he turned it down..... but he is very good at switching off the base unit and monitor, and flicking the switch on his extension lead as well :) Am wondering if it would work on my TV to turn off the f/view box -- especially since I started monitoring the energy used by said f/view box yesterday :rolleyes2

Also have one of the extension socket types coming, that I intend to hook up to the TV and add-ons downstairs as DH is a swine for leaving that TV on standby !!! One of the Sunday papers (think it was a Sunday one rather than a Saturday) had a voucher you just had to complete and send off -- with no extra papers to purchase, and no postage to pay either way which was a pleasant surprise. Bought two copies of the paper (think they were 70p each - I know it was one of the cheap ones we wouldn't normally consider), and sent off for one for us and one for DD at her address.........
