sophiesmum, how do you post photos into the thread?

It sounds more complicated than it is but :
you need to set up an account with an image hosting service like photobucket , load pics into your pictures file on pc from camera or phone as usual, then upload pictures from your pc to photobucket account, once they are on there you can click on the code for image which is the bottom one under your picture, this copies it to your pc, you then just click and paste into the post. Takes a bit of toggling between mse and photobucket but it is easy once you get the hang of it.

If you can make sense of that well done:rotfl:

NYK - so if i put £10 on butlins.. (im already joined with them and had deposit etc) and keep say £2 on account.. i can do scrachcard everyday? What are rules for withdrawing as i would have to put my own money on.

Mumzy, if you put £10 into your B*tlins account you can then play their free scratchcard, which will give you a minimum 10p win. At that point, go and withdraw your £10 but leave the 10p in the account so that it is always in credit. Then, all you need to do is log in once a day (but check as you sometimes get 2 a day) and start saving up all the daily winnings until you have reached the next £10.10 minimum so you can withdraw the £10. I haven't reached my first £10 yet, so haven't tried this far but I did withdraw the £10 as soon as I had £10.10 and that worked fine. :)

Janey, glad you had a nice time and we were really lucky with the weather! On the stockpiling front, I have to agree that it must have saved me a fair bit but I can only buy locally, so can't take advantage of any of the fab bargains that Sophiesmum & others can get via cash & carry. Not fair, the costs of rural living are plentiful but it's worth, don't you think? :rotfl:

Skint Lynne - I'll second Sophiesmum's opinion - your case of frugalitis is now verging on full blown, I would expect it to have become chronic within the next 3 weeks and, by 2009, there will be absolutely no turning back as there's no known cure. Not even a 'big win' can cure chronic frugalitis. Next thing you know, you'll be speaking FRUGISH!

Trex, you are so lucky getting bargains like those, stuff like that is impossible to get here and I feel extremely lucky when I get bread for 30p! Today, my bargains included a pack of kiwi fruit for 50p, half a cucumber for 20p, mixed salad for 37p and some croissants for 51p. No competition locally, so prices just don't move that much. I was looking at yellow reduced labels and putting them back because they were too expensive. :rotfl:

Bails, have a great weekend! :)

My moneysaving good deeds for the day: Whilst in town sorting out paperwork for the house move, I popped into the charity shop and dropped off 4 bags of books.

I've also sorted out a few more books and am trading them in at a local book shop. Trouble is, I hate parting with books, so I'm not making a very good job of clearing stuff out by keeping putting them back on the shelves. :o

Get a quote from AXA for healthcare and (maybe) get a £10 M&S voucher.

Not sure if you already know this, but found this on the Grabbit board. I read on here that some of you had luck with another offer (can't remember which but for a £5 voucher!) and have just given it a try.

I find lots of useful savings tips on this thread and can never really find anything helpful to add myself, so thought I'd post this on the off chance that it worked for someone!

in keeping with the recent discussion about losing weight, I'm off to the gym :D which cost me £35 for a year's membership so that was quite frugal as well. I only need to lose a couple of kilos so not much stockpiling but my main problem is that I'm very very unfit so I want to sort that out!

Busy busy busy at the minute - lots of work on. I was doing quite well this week on the NSD front but then blew £69 today on two language courses and a fee to get back my exam scripts from last year. So lots of spending but nothing self-indulgent, sigh.

hope everyone has a nice evening xxx

PS ooh thanks, will give that a try the_cat :)

PPS my thanks button is dodgy, sorry!

thanks the_cat -- have been and done a quote, but it doesn't tell me whether or not I qualified for a voucher..... so I guess if something comes in the post it'll be a nice surprise, but if not I'll probably have forgotten about it anyway ;)

have to admit I still don't explore all of this forum, so miss out on notices like that one !!!

Thanks for that, I've submitted mine and will wait to see what happens. I got my £5 from D!rect L!ne and have seen several other places offering M&S vouchers as incentives - I'm guessing M&S have decided to cut their TV budget and just pay people to go into their shops? :D This idea, I like! :D Ooh, or else they are now into the database game and are selling all our details!
If the vouchers arrive, I hope mine arrives before I move house. :rotfl:

    Janey51 - that's a wonderful memory, really touching kaos-animal-bunny-smiley-6080.gif

nkymedia - I checked out the imeasure site and entered my readings, this prompted me to enter them with Sc.Power (which was due a reading anyway). Wish I hadn't as they sent me an email today saying my DD was going up by £11 per month to £92.50

Have worked out how much my SIL's wedding will cost us in January (family of 5). For 2 nights b&b plus flights to Dublin will cost nearly £800 - can't really afford it but it is close family (her and her h2b don't even live in Dublin, they live in London confused-smiley-17536.gif)

Anyhoo, we're off on holiday next week, which I won on this site :j . We only need petrol and food. It's in Dartmouth overlooking the Marina and is really expensive (£800 per week). This is our only family holiday this year.

cw as sophiesmum said, CCCS is a debt management company. DH and I were with them for 18 months after his business folded leaving us with a mountain of debt :o They saved our sanity but I am paying the debt off myself now as he has gone.
Some of it died with him but a huge chunk remains, hence my aspirations to frugality so I can save up to pay them all off at a reduced full and final offer.

My car is better but I don't know what the bill will be yet  I did make a little profit on the deal though. My windscreen washer bottle was empty by the time I got to the garage so I asked my friendly mechanic if he could spare some water (Put on my best Helpless Female look )
He filled the bottle to the top with proper screenwash.....over a gallon :T
And I got a free cup of coffee and used their toilet

Oh, those wily female charms :rotfl:

    Hi all,

I have also let my spending diary slip big time but not going to tackle it tonight as am sooooo tired. Also frugalising has gone out of the window this week as failed to get my sandwiches done at weekend so I have been eating at the college canteen.

I had such a good laugh last night. Since the car insurance episode with my ex he has been bombarding me with nasty text messages and I have now ignored him for one and half weeks. Yesterday then I got a message asking: "Are you dead?" I haven't replied yet and can't decide if I should say: "Yes, let me rest in peace." or "No, but can't you pretend that I am?" :rotfl:

Oh dear. Just enough time to have my supper before Heroes and then I have some MB to do as I got an offer that I need to use in tomorrows footie or I have missed the opportunity. Also I have a bingo running in the background. Nothing so far...

    Catch up later,

    Marru
