Congratulations, Nyk! Great news. Can't wait to see the photos when you do post them. Did you find the thermostat?

Jumble-Bee, do you recommend the thermal vests? Our council 'free paper' came today and it says that to keep in good health, you need your house heated to 21 degrees. Blimey - mine's more like 17 these days - yesterday morning the kitchen was 16, and it's going to get a lot colder than that....! I just wear plenty of clothes. Mind you, every so often I stoke up the woodstove and the place feels tropical then.... lovely, lovely, lovely....:D

Gonna have to keep 'febreezing' him.
Maybe put a bag over his head. Maybe shut him in the shed?

:rotfl:Thank you so much!!! I have a terrible migraine again today and when I was walking the dogs I was dreaming that I had this lovely man waiting for me at home with supper and then he would give me neck massage and after that I could just curl up on the sofa with him but if I had to febreeze him I think I shall pass. To be honest I am not sure that that kind of men like in my day dreaming exist .

NYK! HOW FANTASTIC!!! Brilliant news! :j:j:j:T:T:T:j:j:j

Re hot water bottle vs electric blanket: I have even better solution: labrador, it is not cheap but on the other hand I save in gym costs as she takes me for walks.

Will need to go and put some food together to add on yesterday's leftovers despite that I feel terrible. Bails - sorry all the tasks for today has to be delayed as I am not in a position to do any kind of activity that requires using my brain but I will promise to eat properly.

    Have a great evening everybody!

At least you're eating properly Marru, that's the important thing. And those men in your daydreams do exist...just not inside your 4 walls ;) (that babysitting offer still stands...)
These thermals sound good, where they from JB?

  • Hi Bails, You asked me to explain how I can live on £8300 for the year. The money is split the following ways (rent went up from £400 to £420 in September)

    Rent £4880
    Bills £1404
Food and drink £900 (includes socialising budget)
    Clothes and haircuts £265
    Presents £161
    Holidays £390
    Bus travel £300

I don't drink or smoke. I eat a vegan diet at home - vegetarian if going out for a meal. Breakfast is porridge. Lunch is yesterdays tea warmed up. Tea is vegetable stew (winter) or salad (summer). Socialising is with friends at houses or in the local countryside. Seefilmfirst gives free entrance to the cinema. I do work that sometimes gets me free tickets to the theatre. I get concessionary train fares. I'm studying with the Open University for a degree so that keeps me busy too outside of work.

I have a great life. I live in a beautiful part of the UK. My home is close to beautiful places to walk alone or with friends. The events diary for this area is packed - and a lot of it is free and if not, I volunteer at events which gives free entrance :0)

I don't do mystery shopping, surveys, clicks or that stuff as I'm too busy! I guess the biggest saving is the meal planning and not drinking!

Not sure if that helps at all... Please feel free to ask!

Well today I had my new monthly dd amount from Swalec - they have increased it from £22 to £68!!!!! Apparently we owe £239 so they're adding that to the new prices and our bill for the year will be £818!!! It's a massive increase I think it's because they never send anyone out to get a reading so all the other bills [apart from the first one] were estimated I will be ringing them with updates more regularly now. Am gonna wait for my new gas DD which should arrive this week then see if I can get it cheaper anywhere else. We do use more now that lil Finn is here - I was using the tumble dryer loads and we have the heating on more but we're being very energy conscious now so hopefully that will make a difference.
Went to the library the other day and got 2 of Martin's books so am reading them at the mo for tips. Really want to try and save as much as possible from now on.
I love all the tips and hints I get from this forum it is brilliant. :T
