NYK so glad you've got a house at last. :beer: Is it a long tenancy? Can you keep lots of animals, has it a large garden, wood burner.....soo many questions:rolleyes:0

Hello MrDT, glad to see you are still around and still benefiting from frugal(ish) living. Excellent news on the savings front and please do pop in now and again to let us know how you are progressing.
House news - I'm saying nothing until this is signed, sealed and delivered - I'm paranoid enough already(But yes, it has a garden, space for the greenhouse, an open fire and permission for keeping pets & chickens, though I won't be thinking about any of that before next Spring.
) Hoping to be able to move before Christmas, but loads to do and loads to budget for, as we're going from partially furnished to completely unfurnished. Mind you - I do have my fridge, freezer, microwave, slow cooker and hot plate.
Friend suggested I get a twin tub but I have bad memories of these. Had one on the farm and went out to check the horses whilst it was filling up. I got distracted, ended up mucking out the stables and by the time I got back to the house the dog was perched on a chair like it was stranded on an island and I had a river flowing out the back door of the porch. :rotfl: OOPS! And you all thought the hitch hiker story was daft? Umm... how sane do you think YOU will all be after several years study as an eccentric frugalite? :cool: (Have to admit, Janey has done a fabulous job and graduated with flying colours
)
Edited in - I want you all to look away whilst I pop out and treat myself to some unneccessary chocolate, cakes and other 'nice things' to celebrateI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Keep an eye on freecycle in your area for furniture? Also maybe look on ebay as some furniture /large electrical goods go for not too much if its pick up onlyI got a lovely wooden chest of drawers this way for £6. Are there any charity shops in travelling distance that do furniture too/electrical goods or would the cost of petrol be to high? Some of the ones near me sell new (but not the latest model) items as well as reconditioned and 2nd hand items.
Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

unneccessary chocolate
This is surely an oxymoron?;)
Celebrate away I say! Hi Mr DT :hello:
I've been hijacked by a kitten recovering from the vets, and now the other one is back for some TLC too, aah! About to find out the damage...:eek:The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

A NEW HOUSE!
:j :T :beer:
:eek::D:D
Are you buying or renting? I remember the biggest difficulty you had on the 4k challenge was paying the bills for heating your big old house, I'm guessing the farmhouse will be different?
Oh, and are you moving with your housesharer, or is he now your partner? I'm so out of touch haha! (and incredibly nosey lol!)0 -
Good questions Mr DT, good work!The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Ooh wot a nosey bunch, I should have known that the reappearance of MrDT could only mean trouble! :rotfl: I will not be housesharing, DS is moving with us and it's a rental, hopefully with a view to us being there for some time. Am saying 'nuffink' else until I have the moving date in writing, as I'm paranoid about anything going wrong.
Treated us to a stuffed crust pizza for tea and (more) chocolate for later but also ended up buying some BOGOF cheese, milk and some jam doughnuts plus a top-up for my mobile, so the spending diary and signature have been updated accordingly. A little bingo win would be nice but I think that's asking too much after a free £5 voucher this morning, a double bingo win a fortnight ago and a Premium Bonds win this week already.:T
