Just done my Tesco delivery order for next week (extra delivery charge, yet I usually use cheapest and I make better choices in terms of BOGOF and not buying on impulse etc). Since I started reading/taking part in this thread I totally reduced the cost of my grocery shop. Today, for instance, I found a 10pounds off ecoupon on hotdealsuk :T
My sympathy goes to all struggeling with energy bills. We're forunate, although we have a usually more expensive prepaid meter our bills average 30pounds a month over the year. Hope you manage to find better deals or save a little electricity here and there.Good luckDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Cheers thriftylass that's amazing - how do you keep it so low?
Is it really cheeky to ask what the tesco code was - I looked on hot deals but couldn't find it0 -
congratulations NYK. It's nice to hear something positive.0

I am well chuffed tonight,
More bargains. 4 packs of 2 fancy organic red peppers (the pointed ones). Were 1.89 per pack, reduced to 19p. One savoy cabbage, 76p reduced to 19p. green beans, 1.29, reduced to 19p. The real price for all this veg would have been 9.61, I got it all for 95p. It is all in date until 11th as well!! I make a nice red pepper soup and I will use the green beans in the HM soup I make. The cabbage can be chopped and put in the freezer and I'll use that for soup as well probably. Do you have to blanch veg before putting it in the freezer or should you just chop it up and hope for the best??
Speak tomorrow,
nite nite xx
My dad is looking forward to the soup, he loves it, so will be busy cooking tomorrow night.0 -

Way to go nyk :j :j
Does this mean you can look forward to a warmer winter? I shall have to pay a return visit
Bad news....the gales here have totally demolished the greenhouse which is now scattered all over the grass
So much for the expert builder's DH had to put it up :rotfl:
When the rain eases, I will brave the weather and go and pile the bits up.
I am obviously not meant to have a greenhouse but, in the scheme of things, it's not that important at the moment.
I am not going to bother having it rebuilt because I don't know if I will be staying here.
But I am gutted at the waste of the money a) for the greenhouse and b) the money paid out to have it put up.
I won't be challenging the men who did it because they were DH's friends and I really can't be bothered.
I have got rid of a few things on freecycle which is good news. Helped a couple of really needy people :T
I have listed some things of Mums on Ebay and got a bid and some watchers.
Can you believe I actually figured out how to put the pics the computer and upload them to Ebay :j
Mum was horrible to me last night when I visited. I know it's the dementia but it's hard to listen to my lovely Mum calling me a b**** and saying I have never done anything for her not to mention I am torturing her
I hope she is happier today.0 -
((hugs)) Janey
probably easier to say than do, but I've heard that the best thing to do is pull together a host of memories of good times with the other person, then when they get hurtful just think of those memories and remember that the "real" person in the person in those memories.
I've not actually been there myself, although DH was "a bit that way inclined" at times during his chemo last year, and I know my lads (then 16 an 18) found it quite hurtful.Cheryl0 -
We live on 7200 for everything including a 2 week holiday in Europe and trips away for long weekends.
Hubby pays the mortgage and I pay the rest. Any extra from Hubby goes into savings such as emergency money, uni fees and paying off mortgage earlier.
I don't have a student loan so we are not going into debt for undertaking study.
2000 - summer holidays / weekends away
3900 - food, gas, electric, petrol etc
1300 - clothes, school trips, children's activities.
7200
So ok we don't go out a lot but with study, 30 hours of work for me , hubby full time but we get little luxury trips in. Bank phones me up when i put money on the credit card - you meant to go into debt not credit Mrs ........ I put the money on for the holidays I know don't get a great rate but it does mean we are not going into debt when we take our trips.
I use my student discounts and try be canny shopper. We have monthly budget, I bulk shop online once a month as the delivery cost would be what I would pay in petrol to go to the supermarket and parking fees. I go up to the market on a Saturday morning to get quality fruit and veg. We have lived with this budget for the last 6 years. I am almost there just the dissertation to go.
It has been getting harder these last 2 years with the fuel bills so I did extra hours in the summer so we have added funds in emergency fund (good interest rate) to cover fuel bills.
Congratulations to everyone who can do the £4,000 challenge you will be able to save for your dream, whether this to be debt free or deposit for home, or a special event.0 -
Thanks to Danesfort and Hiphouse for the breakdown of figures, these'll be a help to compare mine with :T
Oh Janey, what a truly rotten time you're having. My nan had Alzheimers and it was so distressing to be part of, for all of us. Holding onto those memories is all you can do. Sending you massive hugs today xx Forget about the greenhouse, as you say it's not worth it. Are you wanting to move or needing to?The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000
