My insurance now is onyl £11.27 but i wanted to get it for less but Lloyds offer £42 cashback through quidco. Iam i best looking for something else?

    Hello All,

Mumzy, if you have to pay £13 per month but get £42 cash back you pay 21.24 less annually. If you are happy with this then go for it. Or you can go to comparison sites to find best quote and then see if any of the cash back sites gives you cashback for that as to see which one in total is the best value for you.

Bad news: the tooth next to the tooth that I got fixed is starting to hurt. And I broke my glasses on Wednesday. I can still use them but they are not very comfortable. Lucky I only really need them when driving and taking notes from white board. .

Good news: I have asked to be moved into another group at college as the noise in my present group has been driving me bonkers and from Monday I can start with the quieter group. Also I have some really nice wine and crisps as a treat for tonight after DD goes to bed, bliss.

Tomorrow can't have a lie in as need to take DD for her hair cut. I will try to be really productive tomorrow as to be able to completely have a day off on Sunday and take The Dog for a walk with DD and just chill.

Bails have a fab aniversary. I want to hear all about the hen weekend and about going back to college when I see you next time.

Janey: hugs to you. When my granny was getting old she was living in the time long gone - time when I hadn't been born and it was very upsetting that she didn't recognise me and she thought that my brother was a little boy and couldn't understand that he was as a grown up sitting in front of her.

Loving and leaving you now. Relaxing evening everyone!

    Marru

I think I may have overlooked a small monthly saving, but am not sure just yet. Does anyone else use AOL broadband on a wireless network? We originally had ours set up on the £24.99 package but I downshifted as soon as I could, if anyone remembers, and they allowed me 6 months on £14.99 and then it would go to £19.99 thereafter. However, that was almost 8 months ago and the last debit was still £14.99 and their website states that's how much it now costs. Did I miss an email update about price reductions? :D I already saved £5 last month, if it's same again this month and from hereonin, I'll have saved an extra £20 this year and a full £60 next year! :)

On another frugal and eco-friendly note, I've only just realised that the new road tax laws must be in force so there are cars out there that are completely exempt from tax and plenty to choose from that cost only £35 for 12 months, as opposed to the £185 that OH is currently paying. With a change of car, we could afford to include that luxury in next year's 4k challenge! :D With the cashback on insurance and tiny road tax, it would only cost is £90 per year plus petrol - no MOT on a new car for the first 3 years, I think?

correct...... or rather, until it's 3 years old. So it really only saves on 2 MOT tests, unless you time the car change to co-incide with when the MOT is due on your current car.

we bought a 'J' reg car (a year old) in July 1992 as the car I had wouldn't have passed an MOT, so saved the cost of the test in 1992 and 1993 - but changed car again in August 1993 to a brand new car. So I didn't pay for an MOT from July 1991 until August 1996 :)

    Hi All,

It has been a horrible day here, very heavy rain all day and when I went to close the shop, the rain was belting down, so much so, I could not see to get the shutters down and I was drenched. Had to come straight home and get changed. I hope I do not get the cold.

The 19p peppers are roasting in the oven along with tomatoes and garlic at the moment. When they are ready, I will blend them together and make them into soup. It smells lovely in here!!

No bargains tonight as there was no shopping on the go. Im going to check the oven and then get into a bath to try and stave the cold off.

    Speak to you all later,

  • My landlady just told me about a great site run by someone called Martin Lewis :rotfl: She's got a 2 for 1 pizza voucher from it....

I thought I'd better introduce her to quidco as well and just found her car insurance for £45 per month instead of £60, with cashback. Couldn't convince her to pay yearly but at least I tried!

She reckons she could spend my £80 per month budget for groceries in a week! Her bf was going to write down all their spends for the next week and then we could go through it, but as she was headed out to the shop she said she'd start on Monday.... not sure she's quite converted yet but I'll keep working on it!

    Insurance quotes

I'm comparing quotes just now for the new house and have just found a BRILLIANT deal on HSBC! The contents quote came in at £55 if I pay monthly (special offer, first 3 months free) PLUS cashback of £60 if I buy before 1st November via one of the cashback sites! Wow! £5 in profit if it tracks? Going to compare cashback sites now to see if I can find a better offer. :rotfl:

nyk - I'm confused. is that £55 for a full year? no way is mine ever going to come in that low :( (too much "junk" that isn't, and that I 100% refuse to get rid of!)

My soup is a triumph, it tastes the best ever, and all with my bargain peppers!!

Roasted red pepper soup - Approx 8-10 red peppers, same amount tomatoes, 4-5 garlic cloves.Drizzle some olive oil over veg and season with salt and pepper. Roast in a medium to high oven for around 50mins. Peel skin off tomatoes and as much off the peppers as you can, remove garlic from skin. Blend with approx 2 pints of veg stock. Put in a saucepan and heat through.

I just measure it all roughly. I made a good batch of it tonight, sometimes it ends up really thick and I just add more stock. Remember and season it to suit you. It's also nice to throw some thyme in with it when it's in the oven if you have any. Remember and throw it away and don't blend it into the soup!!

I think I would get around £4 a bowl for it in a resturaunt, it's that good!!! Off to bed now, speak to you all later,

I'm back again - I got an even BETTER deal! Asd* has just quoted (and I have accepted, post dated to estimated date of entry) £47.50 for the full year! If I go via cashback site, there's £68 cashback!

Yes, this is for a full year. My current & previous policies cost me a fortune - £55 with £35 cashback and £84 with £75 cashback, so they are getting better, don't you think :D Remember that's just contents insurance, not buildings insurance, thank goodness. We rent, so the buildings insurance is the responsibility of the landlords.
