End of xmas day and finally kitchen is clear again. Half of turkey breast has gone home with mum for sarnies, rest is in our fridge for using up. Ham is now diced and one lot in slowcooker with yellow split peas, leeks and remainder of xmas lunch carrots making 6.5 litres of pea and ham soup.Rest is split into 5 soup sized bags in freezer.
Recycled a pile of bottle bags and gift bags into my pressie stash;) just need to find who would like a bottle of baileys for their birthday now from my list, as I am up to 8 bottles last count:rotfl:0 -
Good morning frunchkins:D
Enjoying a break from work only got up about 9:45:eek: , but only went to bed about 3am. About to stick my pea and ham soup in freezer, can just about squeeze it in now xmas day stuff been eaten;)
Had my lovely mum and dad for dinner yesterday, dad very poorly - he only managed to eat about 6 prawns and a small bit of sorbet but enjoyed coming out for a while.
My sealed pot is now £150 better off with xmas money:j , and I have a pile of vouchers for different places so may have a nip into town later and see if any goodies in sales for me or for 09 pressies. Not much else to report, oh checked my online banking and life insurance DD out today so £14.49 to deduct from total in sig - not much left now:eek:.0 -
Happy Boxing Day, peeps.
I am still in bed with a slight headache, caused by too much wine yesterday. This is good as I have no desire to spend money. But it is a beautiful sunny day so we will go out for a meander later.
I did get all my ingredients for the marzipan, and printed off the recipe that sophiesmum kindly provided, but ran out of time before I made it. So I shall make it over the weekend when DH is at work. I did present the ingredients to him, so he knows it's coming. He has been a sweetheart as he is so genuinely appreciative of everything we got for him (even the freebies). I couldn't ask for a better DH.
Hopefully, my pal will be popping up at the weekend too.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Good Morning everyone! :j and Happy Boxing day!
I'm in a great mood this morning - yesterday I got the purple GHDs limited edition set, and it was such a lovely surprise! My hair is ringlets naturally, and I have some GHDs that I bought about 6 years ago, and have looked after them wellbut I happened to mention to my mum about a month ago that the ones I had were not getting as hot, not working as well, and BAM! Purple GHDs
:j :j haha. Wooop! So yes, I am happy. It was a lovely day.
Hopefully I won't spend any money today, I'm tired and don't have any plans to go anywhere :P

I'm having a "me" day today - Got up at 9.15am, tidied up a bit, had a nice bubbly bath, tidied a few things away and now I'm free for the rest of the day. Bliss! I hope you're all having a "me" day too." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Happy Boxing Day to all, just popping in with a cheery 'hello' before heading into the garden to help plant the 'orchard pack' I got for Christmas. :j It comprises 2 apple trees, a plum tree, a cherry tree and a pear tree - my very own mini-orchard. Catch up soon and then I'll find out what slowlyfading means when she says GHDs, although I have guessed the 'hair' part. :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.

Decided not to go to town but have just used some of xmas money to order a few mens gifts from Boots online sale, 3 xmas and 5 birthday pressies knocked off list for next year now, also added some everyday essentials to get the free postage,
, also got points and went through piggy (renewed account) for another 3 pp per pound.
Still have one or two items in pressie stash, plus bottles, chocs so not a bad money neutral start for 09 so far.:D
Lilac lady - i am still sitting in my PJ's feeling very decadent and lazy:rotfl: just about to have a lovely soak in bath, then will go and visit parents for an hour while other brothers are there.;) save me trekking out to their houses:D0 -

Lovely Nyk, I am after a plum tree this year.
I got an opal and diamond ring off OH which is really lovely and was a huge surprise,he was so excited to give it to me. (wish he had just asked me what I wanted though as would rather have had hen house and chooks,:o and now I need to increase contents insurance as it was very expensive and not covered on policy:rolleyes: )0 -
Having lurked on here for a long time and learned loads I had to laugh to myself yesterday morning as we were all opening our presents. I had the overwhelming desire to "recycle" some of the thing we received into gifts for other people next year.:o
Is that a terrible confession or did anyone else think the same?0
