    Good morning Frunchkins!!

Oops, good afternoon. We had lovely brunch of fried mushrooms and eggs and jam on toast and some baked beans for me (and most of DD's toast as she didn't like it). The mushrooms were whoopsied and I have some more left for tomorrow morning. :D

SL: Please please can you put a link to the recipe of the potato scones. Sounds yummy!!

I managed to finish my xmas cleaning yesterday 7 pm :o so now just need to hang up some washing and hopefully have the energy to tackle my book room later and get it sorted ready for my New Year resolution of starting doing some exercise again.

    My aims for 2009 are:

Sort out my dilemma study vs earnings
Literally quiet my life: less TV, less computer
Be successfull in my 4k challenge by getting more organised
Live more in the NOW and not regret what has gone and not worry what is coming
And it would be a bonus if as a consequense I could lose 10 kg off my weight

Have a sunny day where you are. Here it seems to be a lovely day so going to take The Dog for a walk later.

    • to make more savings towards our future life in the sun
    • to find more ways to reduce , re-use and recycle - becoming less of a consumer in all ways.
    • to be happy and enjoy life, appreciate friends and family, accept any invitations or opportunities that come along, and not be afraid to try out new things.

  • hello all. Back from a busy 2 family days. Sounds like xmas as gone well enough for all. SM - sorry to hear your dad not well enough to eat much but glad he was able to get out to yours for a bit. Have a good break form work.
whitewiing - thanks for the poem, it's had me blubbling. Xmas inevitably has it's sadnesses and I really liked that pome.
Taka- that was a brilliant effort which you hould be sooo proud ofyourself for. I really hope you get the bedroom done by your return to work, as you will then have a truely comepletelyfresh start for 2009:j . I'm so glad to hear xmas dinner went so well.
We got a gift token for a very nice restaurant in Brighton for xmas, some M&S tokens and a luxery foods food parcel, so generally people are realising we have very lttle money at the o. My home mad pressies went down a storm and family are suggesting I sell on ebay etc. It was nice my efforts had been appreciated. Not sure I have the sustainable energy to make enough to sell.
Had a great xmas eve meet with bails. Thanks for your message Marru, will be in touch:D .
SF - i have also just googled purple ghd:eek:  :rotfl: . Very thoughful of your mum though. And did you say you had natural ringlets - can we swap please:rotfl: .
I'd like to spend the next week before returning to work painting the kitchen & hall, more decluttering and working on writing some creative promises to myself. I need to focus my energies on various creative projects I've got: both mosaic and a written project I've been working on for a few years but I need to g.e.t. o.n. w.i.t.h. i.t. These must be my priority for 2009. I need to feel I am achieving my dreams rather than just dreaming of achieving. And to do that, I need to do a little bit every day.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Marru - potato scones are Scottish flat 'scones' made from leftover mashed potatoes and flour. Just mix a bit of butter and salt into your leftover mash (whatever suits your taste) and then mix in enough flour to make it into a dough that can be rolled out on a floured board or worktop. Roll it to about 0.75cm thick (less or more once you know what you like), cut into saucer sized circles and then quarter them or mark into quarters for curring after cooking. I cook mine in in a dry frying pan the same way you'd do flour tortillas. Cook for a couple of minutes each side. Potato scone (tattie scone) is one of these things you either love or you hate - I love potato scones with jam or in a fry-up with bacon and egg, it was one of several food items that I couldn't get when living & working in Suffolk. :)
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Ouch SF, I used to pay fortune to get a curly hair and also spent hours using different hair styling gadgets to get it nice and curly. Now I am using wash, brush and go style with hair cuts varying from three month intervals up to a year.

I just remembered to check my 1-po1nts account and the points from joining one of the scrachcard sites were finally there so I was able to order the solar lamp for DD's night light and instead of using the remaining points to get a DVD for DD or a CD for myself I ordered something that I can sell on in Amaz0n. Woohoo!!!

Nyk, than you so much, off to make more mash....

Having lurked on here for a long time and learned loads I had to laugh to myself yesterday morning as we were all opening our presents. I had the overwhelming desire to "recycle" some of the thing we received into gifts for other people next year.:o

Is that a terrible confession or did anyone else think the same?

I had exactly the same thought!

put in my 'present box' with a note who from, don't want to recycle back to original giver
