I want the money neutral for gifts to work out as it would help me achieve my 4k challenge.
What does everyone do to generate extra money or free money? I have so far done some surveys and reviews and have done car boot sales in the past. It would be interesting to see if any of you guys do anything else I haven't thought of.
Hi SL
I 'm going for the money neutral gifts again next year. Managed to get all my pressies money neutral apart from about £43 I spent the last few weeks, but have £50 due from quidco any day now so will have managed it 100% when that arrives:j . Have even got £150 on an asda grocery card from using coupons - then saving that amount on asda savings card. I have around £3O already on next years too.
Other things I have done for money neutral challenge - quidco cashback, matched betting, pigsback for vouchers ( not so good lately) boots points, nectar points, traded old phones with envirophone, tesco clubcard points for sending in old printer cartridges and mobile phones, selling books on amazon, selling furniture on noticeboard at work. There's probabaly more but can't think off the top of my head.:D
I was asked by my mum to pick up some aftershave gifts( £60) from boots today so got 240 points on purchase and a 200point voucher from machine for spending over £25 so £4.40 added to my boots advantage card today and spent nothing:j :j0 -
Thanks for the links, Shaz, I've saved to favourite places for future reference. I don't know what I was thinking about with raised beds, as I was assuming they were at least [strike]a foot[/strike] 30cm deep and still had to have the ground all prepared under them so potatoes and stuff could grow. I've now got about 5 large tubs with handles that are tucked safely behind the greenhouse, I'm going to use these for extra potatoes, as the old swingbin worked a treat last time.
I had to buy a bag of potatoes this week! I have one more lot of frozen mash in the freezer (from homegrown potatoes) and then it's shop-bought from hereonin! In saying that, I picked my first potatoes from the garden at the end of June, so that was 5 months worth we got for next to nothing. We could probably have got another couple of weeks' worth if we'd tried but moving house was priority. If the place sells quickly then the new owners will have leeks, onions and beetroot in their garden and probably get a great crop of potatoes next year when all the hidden ones re-sprout
Still haven't made dinner because I can't think what to have. DS is away until tomorrow, so I can have a silly concoction and then sprawl in front of the fire with a book or watch a frugal DVD. I need to keep my mind off 'Phil the Pig', my sealed pot, as he's due opened and coins counted on Monday 1st December, but I'm getting impatient about finding out how much is in there! :rotfl: I'm hoping for £100I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hello again,
I didn't manage for NSD as needed some eggs but not complaining considering the amount of whoopsied stuff I got. I was going to cook the curry from leftover chicken and then turn some tomato sauce into pasta bake but I think I have to leave those tasks for tomorrow. Lucky I had some potato bake in the freezer so I will serve that with some whoopsied cherry tomatoes and whoopsied cucumber. Then tomorrow I also need to make sandwiches from some whoopsied sandwich fillers and that should keep me going for a week or two so no lie in for me tomorrow.
Off now to enjoy an evening with reality tvHave a relaxing evening everybody!!!

Nyk the raised beds i am talking about are no good for spuds (unless you excavate underneath them)
We did them in the flower buckets last year and i was happy enough but will pick better yielding varieties this time i am going for Anya, charlotte and lady chrystl as these are advertised as good flavour and high yield
I can buy "old"spuds at the farm for £3.75 a 4 stone sack so not bothering to grow that type*****

:santa2: Hello frunchkins!!
I seem to have spent all week chasing my tail... I'm glad it is the weekend so I can catch up properly
Sorry to all who have had tough weeks for whatever reasons. ((((hugs))))
Its mighty chilly here... I'm wearing 3 jumpers but it doesn't seen to be helping... brrrrrr. The temp in my bathroom is a "tropical" 10degC and thats with the heating having been on in the last hr  I might combine checking my parents house (they are on hols) with a shower tomorrow - even with minimal heating on there it'll still be warmer there than here!Roll on my bathroom renovations and hopefully a new (non draughty) window... all the more reason to stick to this challenge and carry on saving up - a warm bathroom
Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!
