Cat Addict -- will be thinking of you tomorrow
    Cheryl
  • I'm glad things went well Cheryl, the strongbow will help you drift off tonight.

Cat addict, I am thinking about you for tomorrow as well.

I'm just in from another party and thats the 6 done for this week. I am really going to look into doing that in a big way next year. I feel as if I make more going out to ladies groups than I do in the shop, so it's the way forward I think.

I've still not heard anything from my job interview and I can look at it in 2 ways.

    1. No news is good news.
    2. I would have heard by now if I had got it, the dear john is in the post.

    Time will tell,

    Hi all,

just collating all my info ready to join in for 2009. I am going to attempt to use Excel, and as I have never used it before, any tips on how I could lay out a worksheet to have columns for different things. I would like to have one to show exactly how much I am spending on a monthly basis on different categories such as butchers, fruit and veg, dairy etc. I already use Micro... money for my main budgeting and just want to keep a detailed list of these particular items, rathen than pen, paper and calculator!

I have enjoyed following this thread and my sympathies to those recently bereaved

Carolbee -- if I'm setting my budget, then I do it on one worksheet (page) within the spreadsheet, using one column per bill.

If I'm keep a track of what I've spent, then I use one worksheet (page) per bill, and have the first page as a total (this can be set to update automatically from the individual worksheets).

I'll be setting mine up in the next couple of weeks, so (if you get really stuck) let me have an email address and let me know which version of Excel you have, and I can send you a copy of mine to tinker around with :)

Don't forget you can use www.spendingdiary.com too to keep track of spending.

  • Thank You all for your hugs and kind words the other day. Things not really any better here but I must keep plodding on, off for a walk on the Moor today with DS's (inset day at school) so that may clear my head. Hugs :grouphug: to even one that needs them and :j to everyone else.

    Good morning frunchkins :)

CW, Glad the day went according to plan and that your SIL commented on what you'd written. I'm sure you always did things the right way, even if it wasn't their way, and the frugal touch with the salmon was ingenious! Well done!

Hope all goes according to plan for your day, Cat-Addict.
Bails, I hope the cat's health improves
Well done Marru, with your wins, assessment completions and car progress. TTDB, I hope the walk helps de-fuzz your brain and let you concentrate on what's most important to you. :)
Janey, hope you're alright and that things are progressing well with your mum.
CarolBee, I'm in the process of setting up my spreadsheets for next year's challenge, but I don't really break down the groceries that far. I have just set up a page for each month with a column for each of my spending categories plus a column for each of my extra sources of income (winnings, cashback, eBid sales etc). I am HOPING to begin my quest for money neutral living next year and have started each column with the budgetted amount so that spends are deducted automatically and income increases it automatically. It should then carry through each month so I always have a running total of what's been spent, what's come in and the current balance - that is the theory, anyway! :rotfl:

Today is a double scratchcard day and I have been lucky! My first card was £1 and 2nd was for £5, these are the highest totals I have won so far! :T

I've a frunchkin friend coming for coffee later this morning, so I'm off to rake out the fire and tidy up before she gets here. We've loads to catch up with, as I haven't seen her for about 3 weeks!
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Frugal living challenge - living on little in 2025 while frugalling towards retirement.
  • I've just run out of coffee break time, so don't have time to mention individuals, but am thinking of everyone who is having a difficult time at the moment x

My temporary housing dilemma is sorted thanks to a friend from my salsa class. She apologised for the fact that she's got a kitten - I decided not to mention that I'd happily pay extra for living with a cute kitten. It'll be £150 a month less than my current place, and really convenient for my new job.

Juast waiting to hear on the latest house offer... thanks to delays I now have the £30k deposit I was aiming for at the start of the year, so at least I've managed to get to my savings target!
