Right, DD has had mortgage approved :j, with me as guarantor . Now I just need to remortgage mum's house to raise the deposit. Really annoying trying to find a decent BTL mortgage - a lot of the search sites either have no BTL mortgages or say the products are BTL but they are not . And as I want a relatively small sum (28k) it is not worth my while paying a massive arrangement fee. Have found a straightforward variable rate at 4.5% with no fees, so here's hoping. That comes in at around £208 a month for 16 years. No early repayment charges and overpayments allowed. Sounds too good to be true, no doubt it is
. Will see tomorrow.
Just checked, it is £10 more to knock a year off so there we go, planning overpayments before I even apply for it
Well, BTL mortgage applied for, it really is a good product and company seem really efficient so far :T (although they didn't send me a prepaid envelope). They asked for info upfront & said it sounded ok, so here's hoping
. Applied for it at 15 years but got an extra 2k to be on safe side so comes in at around £233 a month.
Someone else can tell DD if it's turned down .
A small Egg savings account I have (saving a fund for mum's house repairs) has a drop in interest rate in 10 days so needed to shop around (only £800 in there but it's the principle!). ING account opened at 2.75%. We also have our 'offset' savings in another Egg savings account as the interest rate was higher then we were paying on mortgage (well, it was while I was a basic rate tax payer, I should have thought of that sooner, still it's only 4 months worth). I've just transferred it back to proper offset account and will close it once interest is credited. Needed to amend all the direct debits going into it as well. Also some bills paid, money transferred around, accounts balanced etc.
I've been doing banking for 3 hours this morning, am worn out :rotfl:.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

You plonker! Did your spread sheet not account for this?:rotfl:

If you tell them you want to close the account they will credit the interest in a couple of days.

Basically I just took a load of recipes off the website & adapted (sorry, don't do quantities)
Pre heat oven to aorund 180 degrees.
Soak chicken breasts for a few hours in semi or skimmed milk infused with crushed garlic.
Crush some corn flakes or rice crispies etc in food processor. Add equal amount of plain flour, also some cayenne pepper, thyme, salt, black pepper. Alternatively add some Southern Spices or similar. Tip onto plate.
Spray a baking tray lightly with Fry Light.
Shake milk off chicken & roll/dip in mix. Place on baking tray & spray with Fry Light.
Bake for around 20 mins depending on thickness of chicken. Turn over 1/2 way through & spray any 'dry spots' with Fry Light.
Eat. Nom nom nom nom

Hello diary, sorry I've been neglecting you
.
Everything is in a state of flux at the moment so feel I'm making no progress
BTL application so I can give DD her deposit seems to be going smoothly. 24 hours after receiving my application I had a letter from them saying all looked fine, a phone call from the surveyor to arrange an appointment, my employer got a salary letter from them and when I phoned them it was answered immediately by the lady who sent me the letter! Well done to Stafford Railway BS :j.
DD's mortgage also going through, although Coop made an error and sent us out separate forms - they should have sent one to me to go on to her. Still, they have sorted it out, and survery also being arranged there
In the midst of all this, one half of our Egg mortgage comes to an end 1st Oct. It will go onto their SVR which is 5.49% _pale_. The other part has another 2 years to run and is only at 1.29%, but we will have to move the lot, so will lose that. Looking at First Direct, 2.49% and low cost to move, so not too bad. Will move whole balance I think, which is currently around 109k, then move the amount in the offset savings over so we have around 10k in there. There is no benefit to only having a 99k mortgage, it would be the same rate, so we may as well have the flexibility.
The repayments on the BTL will be around £235 a month. I will have the £70 I've been giving DD each month from rental income to go towards it, so will have to find £165. Am hoping for a decent payrise which will cover a chunk of that, so won't be too bad. The mortgage has no limit on overpayments, so I will try to pay that one off with all the dribs & drabs I get in, I have lost focus in that area recently (e.g. £10 raised from ebay more than offset by the amount I'm spending on there
), that will give me a fresh impetus. I haven't plucked up the courage to ask mortgage co if I can pay electronically & if a payment of say £1.57 would be ok in case they think I'm too dotty to have a mortgage :rotfl:. Is over 15 years but would like it to 10 at most. No doubt DS will want to do the same the week it is paid off
.
Best do some work methinks or I will have no job let alone no pay riseA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Just caught up with your progress well done on the weight loss and well done for being able to help your DD out. If my FIL had not given up £5000 for our deposit back in 1994 we would never have been able to buy anything let alone something we can still live in 16 years later.
Sounds like you have a lot on your plate but still have time to check your are getting the best deal a real credit to MSE I would say.
Love the handbags too I got a cheque from my MIL for my birthday to treat myself I wonder what Radley related item I could get for £35. Tempting.Save £12k in 25 No 49
