Stuart, we have an apartment in Southern Spain, which is why I feel so chilled there as it feels like going home (and comes as a hell of a shock at the end of the trip when I realise I don't actually live there
).
We did our price comparison and prices were a good 20% cheaper than Canary Islands.
Will be playing with finances as weekend - all a bit complicated now with FD ISA opened - I need to pay £1500 a month into FD, leave £300 in to pay into ISA then transfer £1200 back to offset, but can't seen to able to set up transfer into any of my accounts. Have messaged them but no response , will ring Sat to sort out if they don't reply.
Have also set upp DD to apy off balance of NW credit card every month but !!!!!!ed if I can remember which account it is coming from, again, I have messaged them.

42 days from now we'll literally be flying overhead. We're 40 mins from airport but fly overhead, albeit way way up, but you can clearly see our place, so the holiday starts then

Inspired by TPA's calcs I have been doing some of my own:
Challenge no. 1 - MFiT challenge, pay off £25,300 - gallygirl & computer says.
Challenge no. 2 - pay off mortgage on own house (or have equivalent in offset & savings) by the time I'm 50 (29  months).
Current balance 47,777.92
Projected balance 37,543.33 (currently 'normal' payment is around £150 above min)
Projected offset & savings 28,511.79 (this is assuming we continue to pay £200 between us, I pay car off & I OP an extra £200 a month)
Extra to find 9,031.54.
OH has currently contributed £1,638.45 more than me, excluding car loan. Once I am back on level pegging he will match my OP's of £200. So, he will be contributing an extra £4,161.55.
New extra to find: £4869.99
= £167.93 a month
= £83.965 a month each.
I am earning this amount easily each month from mystery shopping, quidco etc, so:
gallygirl & computer says
Challenge no. 3 - pay all off by 55 (89 months away ). Assuming challenge no. 2 met and we continue with the same level of payments each month, gallygirl & computer says
Brain hurts now, but v pleased :T

I trust all these amounts still allow you to enjoy things along the way, which I am sure they do?
It's funny how when we are very young a month seems a long time, then as we age months pass by faster even though we are aging at a proportionally slower rate. We then only count in years then we approximate our age to a "round Figure" (after 35?) and then along comes all the MFW planning and we start counting in months. "Suddenly" there aren't quite as many months as we'd like before certain milestones arise in terms of our age even though we want the MF date to be as quick as possible!
Keep that plan in mind and let's hope you can both improve on it.0 -
