My oh my some people really do shock me. I am on benefits *shock horror* but apparently thats ok because i am ill anyway when i was working and my husband stayed home to look after our toddler i was bringing home far less than £25k, my debts are higher than £6k and we didn't have to live on little money, we budgetted, we ate well, rarely went out and had a good life, obviously now we're on benefits through no choice of ours (i would rather be healthy and able to work!) we have had to budget more, prioritise our debts and we do now live on very little money but we're doing ok. I would like to know what a nice flat means?? I think my home is nice, we don't have a lot of stuff but its clean, we've painted everywhere and its homely. Lets face it, a tub of paint is £10 and would easily do a big room, it doesn't cost much to have a nice home!
Ok, maybe 'nice' wasnt the word I was looking for, maybe it was 'ideal' - a big flat with parking. Stacie i am guessing you're 20, why on earth are you already annoyed and jealous by people who live on benefits I really am not jealous at all, annoyed maybe by the few people that claim benefits unlawfully. you won't have been working long at all, like someone else said if you don't like the money you earn or the hours you do, look for something else. Been home all day isn't much fun, its even more depressing for an able bodied man like my husband who would love to go out to work but can't at the moment because he has to look after me and our child.

Life is too short to be envious of other people, count yourself lucky I know I am lucky, I was asking for advice on if we were able to get any furthur help. you are the only one who can change the way your life goes and at 20 you have a lot of life left to live!

If your OH can't handle his debts or you can't manage on the money left over then speak to someone like CCCS who will make your debts more manageable.

    Thanks for your advice

    Yes, I was thinking that!

Plus you have to be 25 to claim wtc, unless you have a child or disability.

My partner is 26 so it would be his claim

Beleive me having a child changes nothing, the amount we receive (tax credits of £20 per week) is hardly anything to write home about. I have took on a part time job, my OH walks in from work I walk out to work.
