I have a fair amount of cooked chicken left and I fancy turning into a comfort food homemade chicken pie?
Can anyone give me a nice easy recipe, thanks in advance.0 -
I made some the other day which even picky dds enjoyed.
Sauteed some mushrooms and onion , added chopped chicken and later mixed it with white sauce (either home made or in jar)- spooned into ramekin or pie dishes - added a puff pastry topping and baked for half an hour.
I defrosted pastry in microwave but you could use a mashed potato topping instead and add a little grated cheese on top."This site is addictive!"

Fry some onion and leek, mix in some creme fraiche and add the chicken. Top with pastry or mash! If you are feeling flush add some ham or bacon0

I knew the best place to ask for advice would be here!
I've got some chicken breasts roasting in the oven at the moment. I plan to tear them up and make a thick chicken gravy. I have got some ready made, ready rolled puff pastry in the fridge. The instructions on the packet say to lay it on a baking tray and put in the oven, but I was wondering if I can just lay it over my chicken and gravy in the roasting dish and put that in the oven and cook it that way? Or do I need to cook it on the baking tray then put on top of the chicken and gravy mix?the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -

my son-in-law makes a delicious puff pastry pie this way by filling the small earthenware dish with the cooked chicken and gravy and then covering it over with rolled puff pastry, brush the top with milk or beaten egg and in a hot oven it will rise and look like the ones you get in the gastro pubs .0

As above. This is the relevant bit from my pie recipes.
Break the egg into a bowl, pick out any bits of shell and beat the egg.
Unroll the pastry. Moisten the rim of the dish with some of the egg. Cover the dish with the pastry, pressing the edges down firmly. Trim the edges and make a hole in the centre, so the steam can get out as it cooks. Brush or wipe the pastry with the remainder of the egg, which will make it come out of the oven shiny. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

If you're roasting chicken-breasts in the oven where is the gravy coming from? To be honest, chicken pie is often best made with the left-overs from a whole bird and you make gravy/stock from the carcass0
