As said it is generally the drivers that have cross checked their speedo with satnav and then allow the 10% +2mph that they think most areas apply.

My area of the M1 has had a 7mile length down to 50mph for about a year now, expected to carry on untill 2010. I use the route about 6 x week and drive at an indicated 57/58 when I can. That's about 53/54 in real money, no issues yet.

Don't forget, it's the average between any 2 cameras, not just the 1st and last, that counts;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I always thought it was illegal to have a speedo that over read as then you could be speeding without knowing it. I thought they always under read.

If a speedometer over-read your speed you would be travelling at a speed less than that indicated. Which is the case for a great many vehicles.

50mph on your car's speedo is probably closer to 46 or 47. If this is true then you can drive at 53-54mph without exceeding the speed limit. Then there will be the "fudge factor" applied by the speed camera operators which means anyone going slower than 55-57mph (60mph on your speedo) is unlikely to be prosecuted. If you have a GPS in your car that will be more accurate than your speedo.

After reading about NOTSO I wouldn't trust any of the cameras to be accurate. Challenging them in court if you are given a ticket incorrectly is going to be a nightmare. Which is why when I go through any speed camera I will deliberately go slower than the allowed limit. about 5 mph (indicated speed) under the limit. If this means i am actually going 7 - 8 mph under so be it.

I'm afraid I don't have the balls to go through speed cameras 'on the nose' of the speed limit and certainly never over it (indicated).
