Changing six dollars into pounds

Save your six dollars until the next time you visit a country that runs on dollars. It would be worth a sum worth posting about if you were to take it to Zimbabwe.0

Well, excuse me for asking. I thought this site was supposed to help people save money.
I didn't realise that we had to be talking thousands of pounds to be allowed to post.
The thread title gives you plenty of warning about how much money is involved. You chose to click on it. I didn't force you to.0 -
did you try the post office?0

in the grand scheme of things, is £3 really going to make a difference to your life..
this board is about saving a few hundred on a holiday by being savvy and knowing the deals, by making sure you get £20 more on your foreign currency, or by getting a great deal on a hotel..
£3 / $6 is a miniscule amount, when you take into account how much you paid / spent on holiday, which is probably why you are getting ridiculed..
and surely by now you should have taken your $6 into the post office, changed it, and by now start complaining about how little money you actually got back!

No haven't got there yet. Will do. May complain, depending on how much I get! Less than £3 and I'll be a bit gutted, as I make it worth £3.60.
I take your point, but it's the principle of the thing as much as anything. Look after the pennies, and all that...£3 / $6 is a miniscule amount, when you take into account how much you paid / spent on holiday, which is probably why you are getting ridiculed..0 -

According to the Post Office Website - you will get £3.15 for your $6. The buy back rate at the moment is 1.9023.

Yay, that's more than the £3 I was hoping for.frasersmum123 wrote: »According to the Post Office Website - you will get £3.15 for your $6. The buy back rate at the moment is 1.9023.
But can I do "buy back" as I didn't get them from the post office in the first place?0 -
Any PO branch that is advertising a buy rate will be able to change the currency for you. AFAIK the "buy back" guarantee just means that you can change the money back at any PO branch even if it doesn't offer currency on demand.
1.9023 is a pretty dismal rate (not that I'm surprised since it's the PO). Thomas Exchange Global is offering 1.79533 at the moment. It won't make much difference to $6 but I've got quite a lot to change back and I'm hoping the rate will stay good until I have time to get myself to TEG.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0
