Not sure if you were around when we talked cars last month, but I've had mk1, mk2, mk3, mk4 golfs. Now in a Gt Tdi which is fine. Audi A6 for family car hopefully :)
  • Sorry - I wasn't! That's a nice history you have there. I'm on hold of car purchases until the house is complete :( Though I am extending the garage by around a foot to ensure I can fit an A3/S3/Mk5/Mk6 or even a scirocco in. :) I won't be able to fint anything bigger in than a hatch based car I think (which suits me fine and dandy at the moment).

Roll on house rennovation!!! Oh so far to go though! (gulp).

On another note, the house that backs onto ours is on the market for £50k more than we paid for ours this time last year and we haven't even put £10k into our house. Relatively tempting to just move on up already!

I hate to think about prices! Hopefully we wont be moving in the near future so we get some time to enjoy it.

I dont think we could do somethign like this again with kids, certainly not while living in it.

ugh ..cars are a bit of a sore point today...we went out late morning to do some diy shopping but i noticed a noise coming from front wheel (later turned out to be a stone stuck in the tyre). Looking at tyres in B&Q car park we noticed they were nearly bald towards the edges..suspect they were past the legal limit or at least very near it and one was showing signs of splitting at side. So we aborted the DIY shop and went to a recommended back street tyre place only to find they wouldn't take credit card. Ended up at National tyres and paying for 4 new tyres (3 needed other one on way out) , balanced and tracked ...was around £270 (not budget tyres but the next up in price). Next week car is in for a full service so goodness knows what that will cost but it hasn't been serviced for 3 1/2 years so i'm sure it's not going to be cheap and believe the timing belt is due to be changed (edit: actually a timing chain...been googling and it looks like it just need a bit of maintenance rather than a replacement which is around £400 - fingers crossed!).

Came back and went out to the shed for 3rd attempt at silicone on the toilet cabinet top and this time was successful ..though i'm not totally happy with it it's good enough.

Then went out for DIY shop at wickes and b&q and bought some new sockets (white MK stuff) as i'm going to add a socket in the hall and have been meaning to change the rest of the socket around the house too so bought multipacks. Also bought lining paper and wallpapering gear (previously my dad has put up lining paper for us so brings his tools and i help/hinder). Going to borrow a decorating table but can't get it until at least next week - lots of filling to do in the meantime.

  • looking good late comer! I'm working on the loft at the moment also (well everywhere really!) heh. I can fully understand the swearing when it came to putting in the stairs as I just did this ealier this week!!

What insulation are you using for the pitch of the roof? Do you also need a total of 115mm from the slate roof (excluding a 50mm air gap)?

    Cheers
