Oh and the police caught the "rogue" who tried to break into dad's motorhome when he was down. It seems he had previous form! But they cannot prosecute him. Sometimes you really have to love this country.

Thats something that really annoys me - and I know for the most part its not the fault of the police. Perhaps if they did properly prosecute these people it might reduce the amount of crime thats commited.

Hi all, cant beleive I've not been on here since feb. See lots of new people. We have nearly finished all the building work and building control officer was going to issue the certificate when I asked if I could add knocking a wall down to the plans, he kindly said yes, so that the next job, to knock the wall down between the living and dinning room. Ive had the calcs done (£150) by a structural engineer. But Ive insisted the bathrrom be completed before we start it as OH keeps going from one job to another and never quiet finishing. I have made a mental note to update the blog.

That's what annoys me too LC. He just had a "chat" with the police, gave then some bull story and away he went to do it all again! They caught him through his fingerprints. The copper said to me that he didnt have a stable upbringing, well hey, guess what, lots of us didnt but if I had even thought about theiving my mother would have leathered me until I couldnt sit down. She is only 4 ft something and very flipping scarey!

Has Mrs LC had the Bean yet?

My bathroom is now done. I'm trying to work out why the shower head continues to drip once it's turned off. This morning I unhooked the shower head and shook it of residual water and then unscrewed the head and loads of water was in the hose :(

I might have to e-mail Mira again to ask them.

My oven was delivered yesterday and some soft close hinges i bought from e-bay (they weren't included as standard in my kitchen). I'm only waiting for the black glass splashback now. I bought a black frameless induction hob from IKEA a couple of weeks ago.

The kitchen fitter is coming to see me tonight, it was weeks ago he came to quote so i expect he's forgotten what's what.

i'm still toying with getting a water softener - anyone here got one?

By water softener, do you mean seperate purified water tap? If so, parents have one and it's a beauty!

Nope still cooking (as seems to be favoured expression by those asking!)

Had a scare Monday night at 3am but while I was worrying about the kitchen not being finished and other things, OH has fallen back asleep. Took me 2 hours to do the same!

It must be that the valve is still passing water otherwise gravity would stop it all coming out. Mind youi this doesn't quite sounds like the full answer otherwise it would continue to drip all the time (which I'm presuming it doesn't?)

Hoping to get some pics off the camera now that the computer is back up but need to find a few spare minutes.

Last night we painting the kitchen walls. took me 3 hours to paint round the top with the brush. I know I'm fussy abuot doing things right but I want it to look good when its finished. Doing along the top of the units was very time consuming but I borrowed MILs roller so I could do all of it while I was up there. Also took the time to remove the extractor casing so I didn't paint it.

the other thing I tried to do was adjust some of the kitchen unit doors as a couple didn't fit. first one took about 1 minute. Second one I just couldn't get right and eventually it dawned on me that the hinge was mobile. Finally figure out how to remove it and soon figured out the problem. The joiners had completely ballsed up the fitting of the hinges (they had to swap them over for some reason) and had drilled 2 holes for both screws right next to each other - and one set had merged together. Not sure how i'm going to fix it - I'm tempted to leave it for the joiner to fix when he's back doing other bits but then I'm also thinking I should just do it mysefl so I know its done right. thankfully there is a blanking pannel next to the unit so I can hopefully use longer screws to fix into that.

It's one of those units you fit under the sink and put salt tabs in? you can get them in twin or single tanks. it's connected to your water system so you get softened water all through the house (but not normally the kitchen cold water tap)
