latecomer, was it you who'd got sliding door wardrobes? I might be getting you confused with someone else and the thread is a bit lengthy to trawl back through.

Anyway, if it was, do you mind if I ask what is was you got/where from?

Stolt, the quality of those pics is really good. Ditto latecomer's query about camera?

heres the camera that I got, gone down in price since i bought it by £20.00. You can get extra batteries off ebay aswell for about £6.00 which is a big plus. Plus it records video in HD aswell.

Sorry not us. We got some folding patio doors but thats probably not of much use for wardrobes :D

First day of the new builders - they have removed our temporary security which was a sheet of OSB propped up by a scaffolding board and put it in the garage along with everything else. To be fair I didn't explain what it was being used for so might get them to pop it back in the hall tomorrow (didn't fancy trying to move it with OH).

They have cleaned everywhere near where they were going to be working, including the garage and even tidied up outside. Not a bad start! I've asked whether they can add a sheet of 100mm board insulation to their material order so I can tidy up some of the loft insulation. Was meant to be doing some more work up there tonight but didn't get home nearly 9pm and have been working until now. If all goes well tomorrow then I'll maybe finish early..........

Was it TomsMom with sliding wardrobe doors?

Wow, I've missed all the duck news ... how interesting :)

We spend most of the weekend laying the base and putting our new shed up. We've put some guttering around it and a water butt. I'm going to hopefully paint it today :)
  • We had sliding wardrobe doors but after getting some (rather expensive) quotes back from the big names we decided to go with a local company. They were cheaper, and the quality is superb, we love them and really pleased with how they look. We are getting them to make our other bedroom furniture too.

No, we went for free standing in the main bedroom in the end, we couldn't find anything that matched with what we had in mind! Our problem is we are so far away from anywhere that you can go and see these things and we didn't want to buy blind from the internet. We looked at B & Q and weren't overly impressed.

What we did have was some smallish doors made for the loft bedroom, made from 18mm MDF and we painted them to match the walls. We bought the sliding door track and gear off the internet and this is now a storage area rather than a wardrobe.

How's your plants Jimmie? I almost killed my African marigolds by putting them out too early. I've nursed them back to health but it's not warm enough to put them back out yet. My runner beans are at the top of the pole and flowering but still too cold to put them out, we wont have any beans if the bees can't get to them soon as the flowers are starting to die off. They're in the sun room. So are the tomatoes, about 6' high and with fruit on, obviously self pollinating, but I really could do with getting everything outside and having my room back!!!! I've got a garden blog if you want to see. I try to update once a fortnight, just about ready for another one now.

We had two new bedroom windows installed yesterday. If the builders had told us how cr*p the original ones were we'd have had them done along with the renovations. There were gaps around the opening windows so big it blew a gale through, when we originally moved in last April OH had to sellotape all around them to stop the draughts. Also we could only open them about 4" because the bargeboard had been replaced by the original owner (presumably DIY) and he'd put it too low. Good job we didn't need to use the openers as an escape route. The window guys have done a good, neat job and were very careful. No decorations spoilt. They're back today to replace the porch door - another cobble job from the previous owner, the lock never locked despite getting local guy out to look at it but had to admit defeat. When that's done I'm hoping we can get the new tiles for the porch floor laid and then paint the walls to match the rest of the outside.

We've also had steps in the sun room (up to store room) partly rebuilt and levelled. DS did it last week but it had to be done a bit a day so each layer could go off. Blimey, did the sealer stink - had me high and sick for most of the week, I don't know how he works with it! Just got to wait for him to level the floor now when he can fit us in and we can then get some new flooring down.

Loving the duck tales (tails :D) Stolt, please keep on posting about them. Hopefully the eggs will hatch and Mummy Duck wont be too disturbed by family life (yours I mean).

Latecomer - Good to see things are starting to move on. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and you begin to see light at the end of the tunnel.

hey TM! Great gardening blog :)

Well I have most of my plants now outside but still in the little green house thing. They seem to be doing ok but Lobelias are hard to grow, they keep wilting a bit. My courgettes are coming along ok indoors and outdoors during day. Like you said really need to get them outside and planted asap. I have tomatoes, quite small still. My beans are outside all the time now and I have some sweetcorn which I'm not sure what to do with yet. Also radishes are outside too - coming along nicely :) Going to plant some basil later. oh, annoyingly something dug up all my carrot seeds so I have to start again grrrr!!

    :rotfl:

We all have days like that, I have some corkers - just ask DH :D

I'll tlry and take some more photos over the next day or so and do an update. Things happen so quickly at the moment, the azalea has come and gone within two weeks - looking very sad now.

The beans and tomatoes have come on took quickly. We planted them and kept them in the sun room expecting to put them outside after about a month but it's been so cold at night that when we try and harden them off they suffer. The beans' leaves are all mottled white after a couple of hours outside on Sunday :(. I think we might have to abandon them and start again but plant them outside.
