First-time house renovation

Thanks Keith. They claim it's because it's been taken out of box and mounted on wall, and I didn't take back in box (don't have it anymore?!)
Any comment?!
The lack of a box is irrelevant, its all down to whether the unit was of 'merchantable quality'. As long as the fault was not provably caused by fitting the unit, then they have to replace or refund it.

welcome kmmr! I would say ring the council who will be inspecting your plans/extension and ask who they reccomend as an architect...even if they cost more. I wish someone had told me that. The building control inspectors will be able to advise. Our architect didnt get on with the council and subsequently it lost us months and months
ROOF FINISHED GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WINDOWS IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EXTENSION EXTERIOR FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never thought we'd see this day! Broke through one part yesterday and finishing it off tonight.
Bathroom tiled and ready to plumb...I'm grouting all this week
Happy chappy!!
One little thing...had our main windows last feb (so long!) and in october this year we noticed a gap on one of them (dont know how long it had been like that but certainly wasn't there straight after windows were done). long story short but windows man now doesnt do windows but his mate did our extension ones and had a look at it and said he thinks it happened after the gutters/fascias were put on.
Worst case scenario the window has to come out (boo - its plastered and painted) but really...should the gutter people be paying up for this or is it too long since we had them out to ring them? Going to check old photos to see if I can spot when it happened.....

Thanks for that Keith, therefore I'd have to take the whole unit and arm/showerhead down or would just the 'unit' be OK?0 -
sorry suiside i meant to say..im sure Wickes have to take it back. Martin has a slogan which I forget but its along the lines of "if it isnt fit for purpose, you can get a refund" and im sure thats with/without a receipt...... under some consumer goods act. sorry not very helpful but i bet the "consumer rights" board on here would help you further

Sorry guys, really busy at work so haven't got too much time to post about everyones builds but I read them all and all doing great, love seeing the blogs and pics.
Stuck a pic up in the bathroom last night and the rooms looks incredible all painted etc. Will try and get a pic later. Underfloor heating is FLIPPING AMAZING! Who was it who got their UFH from 'The Underfloor heatingstore' again? Wouldn't mind some help with the programming so it's on and off am and the same PM, instructions weren't the 'easiest'!
RE. Shower, Wickes are trying to get hold of Triton this morning to see if they can replace unit. I was playing football last night but Lowri (my wife) spoke to manager of Wickes and said it's their policy that because it was mounted on the wall and that it's a 'consumable good' (?!?!) that the contract with them ends as soon as it's mounted and the contract with Triton starts.
Nonetheless, still extremely annoyed about it all. I don't want a product that was faulty off the shelf?!0 -

Don't you just love it when a retailer makes up their own "policy" which relieves them of their responsibility regardless of what consumer law states!
I hope you get it sorted without any further messing about.
Looking forward to some photos now that it's all coming together and your renovation project is turning into a home.0 -

I would tell them that their policy does not affect your rights as a consumer. If a product is faulty when installed then it should be replaced. I guess part of the problem is that if you've had it for a while and no longer have the box it will be more difficult to convince them. I would tell them you are going get some legal advice and report the matter to trading standards.0 -
Cheers both, I've had the shower for about 3 weeks or so?! Waiting on Wickes to get back to me........0

Gosh suiside .... what a pain!!
On another note ... does your thermostat light up blue? If so, think it's same as ours. I'll ask my boyfriend how he programmed it.
I may have done a silly thing today .... put in a request to adopt a rescue dog. I don't think the house is quite ready for a homecheck but waiting for them to call so we'll see what they say. Oh dear! lol0 -
I think it's the same one Jim, directions, on just using in the morning for say an hour and a couple in the eve with it off in the day would be awesome, also what temp do you have your floor at? Ours was 30 last night and flipping hot! LOL!
Really really funny you mention the rescue dog, we are rehoming a dog and he arrives on Monday. His names alfie and I was going to keep as a suprise until he arrived but here you go! He's a 4 yr old Collie, and his owner has MS so finds it really hard now. Met him at the weekend, seems very playful (standard for collies, VERY clever dogs), is fully trained and also has a calm nature, was lieing on the floor for a long time and lounging around so not mega hyper, anyway, pics below!0
