Very nice for a £180 temporary kitchen makeover jim! amazing how much better the white paint looks than the yellow too...0

Thanks Peter! We might paint some bits red or something as it's all a bit white now and already getting finger marks on. We'll see. Glad I did it white to start with though!0

Thanks Stolt/Pawpurrs......
I made a mistake, it's 14.5m2 at £381 for the slate. They seemed good quality but I don't know about slate quality!?!? All I know is that it came in at the cheapest price out of the few shops/stores we went to and whether it's reasonable enough? It'll be doing floor to ceiling around bath and half room rest of the walls and floor!
Any other comments before we purchase appreciated! It's a light stoney colour and suite is white, do any of you guys have anything similiar which I can see a pic of?!
Jim, that kitchen is a brilliant transformation! What's happening with the bathroom now then?
Thanks again all!0 -
Thanks suiside. Bathroom is pretty much finished now. Can't think if I actually have any pictures of the finished room?! Yeh I really need to take some ....
I haven't been following the slate bit of the thread. I know you can get different types but this is only from research for our hearth not tiles. Welsh slate is the best - has the best colouring etc. Everything else is imported and although cheaper, not so good. How much are you paying per sqm?
Only thing I wish we'd done in our bathroom is more storage. We've got potions and lotions all over the place and nowhere to store!! Think I'll buy a corner unit.0 -
The price being paid per SQm is £26.....
Realise storage could be a problem in ours too so goign to have one cabinet over the loo and possible one over the otherside of the bath!
What size towel rails does everyone have and is it big enough or would you like bigger? How many family members is that for?0 -
£26 is quite good. We paid about £22 for travertine but had about 30 sqm plus adhesive, grout etc £££££ grrrr.
I think our towel rail is too small. Not very helpful as I don't have the size but you can just about put two hand towels folded up on the top. For two it would be fine as two hand towels on the top bit then a bath towel on the next two sections. It's not wide enough for 3 of us.0 -
yes, adhesive and grout all add up! Our fitters supplying adhesive and us the grout, so as mentioned previously going to use grey for the floor and ivory for the walls. What colours did you use?
No probs, if you have a chance to get measurements it would be brilliant, as obviously we want to make sure it's big enough for Lowri and myself and hopefully a couple of little ones in the near future!0 -
Hi Folks, haven't had chance to catch up. The upstairs cupboard is finished *ta da*. The downstairs cupboard is almost finished complete with new shelves. The stairs are fixed and don't squeak (very much compared to previously)....
...and...FINALLY.....
The extension has had all the outer bricks and most of the inside block work done! Lintels in tomorrow and then we'll need a roofer HURRAH!!! Uncle has been amazing over Christmas and just blitzed it! Shame all workmen don't work like that!
Happy New Year all

We used ivory adhesive and grout although the adhesive doesn't really matter. Because our tiles were heavy we had to use quick setting adhesive. This took up time because it only last half and then you have to wash all of the tools, bucket etc and mix some more up. Are you doing the tiling yourselves?
I'll measure the towel rail later on. We got our from Screxfix which seemed to be the best price.0
