Look on the bright side, its fixed and you've saved a fortune over not getting a plumber to do it for you :)

TomsMum - cant wait to see what it looks like once all the decorating has been done. Need pics of the garden too. Thats a long post, guess you missed us while you were offline :D

Ah well, you know me - verbal diarrhoea and all that! And yes I did miss you all!

I'm a bit bored at the moment as OH has been taken back into hospital, blood results very poor so he needs transfusions so I'll be on my own again for a couple of days. So here I go again.............

I'll do some pics of the garden but I might wait until the carpets are down for the room pics. All our wall colours are quite subtle and seem to show up as just white-ish in the photos. I'll experiment and see if I can get better colours.

Does anyone know how you do those multi-quote things with people's names? I have to cheat like this:
ukmaggie45 Hi TM, it's worth using NemaSlug to get rid of slugs. It's a tiny parasite that sits in the soil and infects the slugs, killing them. It's supposed to discourage snails too, but we still get snails, possibly fewer . Has to be re-applied every 6 weeks or so. You mix the stuff up in water and apply with a watering can.

Thanks Maggie. Of course, I meant snails :o but it sounds as though it's worth trying the NemaSlug so I'll look into it. I remember seeing your garden from your blog, you certainly do a lot in a little space.

I could introduce you to my son's cat Sooty, he LOVES bunnies - frequently takes them home as a present, also seagulls. He fears nothing! You could borrow him :rotfl: .
andrew-b After all the hassle with the toilet, this morning we had an "incident" where the water level temporarily rose too high after flushing using the larger of the two flush buttons (it's lunchtime so i'll be subtle with my description!).

Sorry, I had to laugh, nearly spluttered my coffee into the keyboard! But oh dear, you wont forget this particular job in a hurry!

New gas man came this morning as promised :T , he's coming back on Thursday to fit my hob :j and a couple of other little jobs including moving the pipe for the radiator in the downstairs WC. Decorator didn't turn up again today, hope he doesn't want to paint the WC on Thursday  .

PS. I took the camera out into the garden as it's a lovely day (apart from the wind), took about 3 or 4 pictures and it came up "change batteries". Well now, I haven't got the foggiest idea where the batteries could be, we've still got boxes here, there and everywhere and as the camera and it's batteries are OH's domain normally I'm totally stumped. So it looks as though the photos will have to wait a bit longer. I can upload what I've managed to get to the blog.

    .

Thanks for that - would be useful! ;) And not too far for your son to deliver here if he lives near you... ;) :rotfl:

Actually we took a stroll down to the bottom field on Sunday (there's a gap in the bank at bottom of our field into lower one so landlord can get caravans in) and right by the children's swings we found some things that I can only say looked as if Hannibal Lector had got at them! (think the "angel" scene )

I'm afraid we just left the remains there - we'd earlier seen a crow and a seagull fighting over something down there, so am guessing the local wildlife will clear it all up, but where are the buzzards when you need them? ;)

Later that evening I saw a ginger cat which I think belongs to the farm at the top of the hill sitting down there... Surrounded by bunnies - they really do seem to be a bit lacking in brainpower! ;)

A few years ago I was adopted by a different ginger tom who used to come and stay with me over the summer (it's OK, it wasn't kitty-napping, his owner knew, but long story) and he used to hunt bunnies too. He was a bit neater with his leftovers though, he started at the head and only ever left the tail, which wasn't too too horrid to discover...

So sorry to hear your OH has had to go back into hospital, TM. I do hope that the transfusions help and that he is back home with you soon. My best wishes to both of you. :hello: (this is me waving across the bay - if I climbed up to the farm I reckon I could see you today as it's so clear. At least the wind has dropped a bit now, it was scary last night, caravan was shaking in the gusts)

oh no i tell a lie i've found a picture and the battery cover on your camera is on the bottom right (right as your looking from the back of the camera) - there's a catch on it to release the cover.

OMG - YUK!!! for what Maggie found and Andy's pup's taste in treats! Actually, I hope you've all had your tea, but when my DD was a baby and had a very sloppy nappy one day, our labrador actually .......... no, I wont say it but you can guess :rotfl: . No accounting for dogs' taste is there?

Maggie - thanks for the good wishes and  back across the bay.

Andy - I did try to open the battery compartment and failed miserably, but the biggest problem is the whereabouts of the spare batteries or the battery charger. OH has just phoned and he can't think where they are either. No matter, we'll look for them when he gets back, they're probably in a box (cough!) in the sun room :D . Anyway, I uploaded the few photos I managed to take and did a bit of an update on the blog. I'll get OH to take some better ones later in the week if we've still got dry weather.

LOL, I do recall many many years ago OH had a bit too much beer one night and fell out of the caravan (it was only a tiny one way back then, so only fell about a foot or so and was drunk enuff that it didn't hurt)... We weren't exactly looking forward to the clear up operation, but found the seagulls had taken care of it all by the following morning! :D (I knew there must be a reason why the smilie is green! ;) ) So guess dogs and seagulls have similar taste - YUK! :rotfl:

    Sorry, completely off topic! ;)

To bring things a bit back more on topic, did anyone else here see the Grauniad's money pages last Saturday? There was a whole lot of moneysaving stuff on being green and so on. Photovoltaic panels on roof and lots of other handy eco stuff (not had time to read it all yet). Of course some of it costs an arm and a leg, but there's quite a lot of freebies out there too.

Anyone considering trying any of it?

    Hello everyone!

I have been very busy- we can now see to the end of our garden and it is huge!!! Hubs and my bil were out there on saturday with a strimmer, and I think it looks great. Need to mow this weekend, and clear some bindweed, but it is looking fab.

Inside I have also been busy- Yesterday I plastered a wall, and then in a different room painted the ceiling and walls, and then made a roman blind for the window in the evening.

Today I am going to paper the feature wall in our new bedroom, and tidy up the carnage from an evening of sewing :D

    Yes please !

Did you have issues with runs ? Maybe i am using the wrong brush or just not good at it - mind this was at the old house and i have built up more experience since then

I still haven't managed to find the tin but i'm sure I've seen it recently. I've got a lot of tidying up to do later on so hopefully I'll come across it. I think it was a Ronseal but could be completely wrong. In fact I've gone one better and had a look online. It was definitely a Ronseal one and I think this was it:

I'll also confirm it once I find the damn thing :)
