    Hi everyone,

You guys are all doing really well. Seeing a lot of activity from Andy.

Saw the "All done" blog from BB - I am so jealous.

We're getting so close now with our house. This week we've started the hallway, which involves lots of paint stripping, lots of filling, sanding and painting. Once that's done we can get the carpet!

I've been spending loads of time in the garden and the bulbs I planted are starting to poke through. I got lots of cuttings from my aunty and mum and have planted them out front.

The lawn is going a little brown now, I think we need to water it more. Even when it rains it doesn't all get much water as there are huge conifers sheltering half of it.

Here's a piccy of my veggie patch if you've not seen already:

I've got garlic, carrots, spinach, beetroot, lollo rosso, 1 chilli plant and 1 sweetcorn plant! Also got oregano, dill, mint, basil and chives in pots.

I'm having a bit of a disaster with my seeds in the propagator...planted 10 of each sweetcorn, basil and pepper and only got 1 sweetcorn and 2 basil come through. It's been a month now I think. I've tried planting some more sweetcorn direct in the soil. I'm not sure if 1 sweetcorn plant alone will do anything.

Well I've only got a small update...... I've been offered the job from the interview I did last week. :j

Just trying to get my head round the contract and legal stuff as it needs to be signed and returned in the next day or so. Will be starting in mid June so wont have as much time to do stuff on the house as expected.

Thanks for all the support, it really was appreciated.

I've actually got other updates relating to the house but will need to post them later.

Soffits and fascias being fitted as i type. Although so far the rain has held off, not all has gone smoothly. We now have a few cracks on the top underside of the window reveal in the spare room. Basically there's a wooden lintel with battens attached to the underside. To the battens was nailed the soffits and plasterboard of the underside of the window reveal. In removing the soffits the battens have moved and has caused the plaster to come disbonded from the plasterboard in an area about 2 feet long 1 inch wide on one side and a smaller area on the other side. Theyve said they'll make it good for me though. There's another 3 windows - the bathroom one and the kitchen one and dining area end of the lounge which the same thing could potentially happen to.. i really hope it doesnt happen in the bathroom having just had it plastered and painted it!

In hindsight i think we should have got the soffits and fascias done before anything else in the house. Having seen the rot on the top of the fascias for myself it seems that replacing rather than painting was the right choice.

They are hoping to finish on Saturday though i'm not convinced they will as there's alot to do. So far they've done the back except for the guttering and about ready to attach them around 1/2 the front. Looks like they might be here a good few hours yet today and it's now 4pm.

    oops..meant to put...

well done on the job latecomer ...hopefully you'll get paid well enough to do everything you want to the house!

Yep Andy, hindsight is a wonderful thing. There's some things we know to do better or different now too. That's what's so good about this thread, we are all learning valuable things from each other which will hopefully prevent us making mistakes or help us plan things better.

I hope your fitters put things right to your satisfaction.

OH's just come home and found the batteries and charger for the camera :T . I'll get some more pictures done over the weekend.

Is anyone having problems with the links they're putting in? I've put a couple in posts over the last couple of days and when they're clicked on there's a message that says

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

    What you can try:
    Diagnose Connection Problems

    More information"

This is when I click on a link I've put like this, your link done like that works fine Andy. It's OK if I put the full URL in. Perhaps I should be asking on the Techie forum.

    Andy

With the "insert link" symbol that comes up above the text box when typing a reply, it automatically comes up with http:// in the box so I'm not typing anything in myself, just copying and pasting the URL from a web page.

If I want to put a link, say to my blog, and use the "insert link" symbol so I can go here's my blog, that's when it seems to be coming up with the message about not displaying the web page.

Actually Andy, can you get to it from that link? Maybe it's just my computer  . It seems to have happened since the site had a closedown for upgrade a couple of days ago.

    And does this one work?

When using that symbol adding the link puts a second http:// in. I wonder if that's a problem. As I could click on your link and get to your blog with no problem I'm wondering if you're doing something different from me but as you must be using the symbol too I don't think you can be.

Crikey, I think I've confused myself here, if you can understand what I'm going on about then well done :rotfl: .

Hi...when the link box opens, just clear the box then paste in your link. If you hover your cursor above the link when you preview your post the address will appear at the bottom of your monitor/screen. Btw...many congrats of your renovation.:T
