Kaupthing Edge VS Icesave – which is the best savings account?

Technical glitches have prevented UK customers from withdrawing funds from Icesave - the Internet arm of Iceland's Landsbanki.
UK newspaper The Times says although Icesave customers have been able to access their online accounts, systems problems have prevented them from transferring funds.
According to the report, a message on the Icesave Web site admitted that the bank had been experiencing "intermittent faults" over the last 12 hours that "randomly" affected different groups of customers. Icesave said its IT team had resolved the issue.
But The Times says it was contacted this morning by readers that had been able to to look at their accounts but had not been allowed to take money out.

"No thanks to those that advice me that Icesave was the best savings account"
I really can't believe this is being posted over and over again, it was already posted and discussed early this morning when the badly reported article broke.0 -
Sorry, but these "I can't get my money out !!!!!!!!!" posts are seriously p****ng me off. I can understand people having fears etc., but for gawd's sake.
I've been using internet banking for flaming years and years. Sometimes the systems simply don't work (overload, down for maintenance, technical glitch...). Two or 3 weeks or so ago I couldn't make withdrawls from my first direct account...I didn't go jumping onto forums or running round in circles worried that FD had shut up shop. One or 2 weeks ago I couldn't make a withdrawl from KE; ditto. guess what - I phoned them up....0 -
Iceland's government has taken control of the country's second largest bank, Landsbanki (icesvae).
The bank, which trades in the UK as the internet bank Icesave, is being taken over by the Icelandic Financial Supervisory Authority (IFSA).
Icesave says that it is not currently allowing customers to take money out of their accounts or to put in deposits.
The website of Icesave tells customers that: "We are not currently processing any deposits or any withdrawal requests through our Icesave internet accounts. "We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our customers. We hope to provide you with more information shortly," it adds.0
