I was just thinking to set the alarm on my watch so I can be upstanding for the two minutes silence. Thats a helluva reality check to hear, Hypno, you're right - things aren't really so bad for us.

On your poor friend..how awful!!!!..you're right it does put things into perspective.
At least we can say we're better off now than we would've been if we hadn't discovered MSE...as you say you get further vthrough the month.
• Hi Hypno

What terrible news about your friend. It just goes to show, we might fret over the state of our finances, but it is only money after all.

• It certainly makes you think when you hear news like that.
Even if that is all I manage to do again next year I will be within touching distance of being debt free
What do you mean all I think you have done fantastic and ski training money on top. After applying all evening and this morning for mystery shopper jobs (thanks for the help:A). I realise how hard you have been working debt busting is a full time job and you have a full time job and others beside. I really take my hat off to you. (Housework what of it. You do it and then turn your back and it just needs doing again so don't use that to beat yourself up).
Can someone tell me where I am going wrong with the quotes?

I am drowning in a sea of work here.....can't see the wood for the trees, so to speak! I will be glad to get out for my run later this evening and clear my head.

Yes, her parents had gone away for some sort of "rememberance day" reunion as he was in the services. The Mother didn't really want to go, and said right up until the day they left that she was not sure why she didn't want to go, but it just didn't "feel" right. I cannot comprehend what they must be going through right now.....losing my own Dad was quite "simple" in comparison (not that "simple" is the right word, that sounds awful, but I think you know what I mean).

Hi Hypno

On a lighter note - there was much excitement in the PigginSkint household last night when the ad that OH filmed in September was aired on telly - terrestrial telly, British telly!

Everyone, look out for the John Lewis Christmas campaign ad - OH is the one towards the end wearing a burgundy (I think!) shirt, just before a brain trainer thingy!

• Hi Hypno - Yes certain things happen in life, or your attention is drawn to something and it puts everything into perspective. I read a magazine article a week ago about a woman who had lost her husband and 2 little boys in the Tsunami and It made me count my blessings straight away and think to myself "at the end of the day it's only money"
On a lighter note , Pigginskint, I have seen that ad! Just can't remember your OH, I will certainly be looking out for it again though!
