It's full of stuff the kids have outgrown (Clothes and toys). But I never seem to get round to ebaying it. Our local charity shop don't want secondhand clothes. They say when they take into consideration the rent on the shop, they have to sell it dearer than people can buy new from Primark or Asda, then they have to pay to have the stuff they don't sell taken away.
I am tempted to just stick it in a few bin bags and have a trip to the dump. Then I can use the cupboard to tidy away the stuff we actually need. But it seems such a waste. What do you think?
I always thought that charity shops got money, all be it very little, from the 'ragman', for stuff that was unsaleable/surplus stock.
If I were you ebay it.0 -
Christmasshopper - if you really can't face ebaying it, then look for another charity shop. We have LOADS locally. There is also a Salvation Army clothes bank at the recycling centre in our village, and at the supermarket (and shoe banks I think). Like SM we also get charity bags through our doors regularly (although never when you actually need them, and usually in quick sucession!). Childrens charities/local playschemes or even your local doctors' surgery may well take the toys.0

Christmasshopper wrote: »I'm a Christmas baby. I love it. The only thing that annoys me is when people suggest I celebrate my birthday in November because everyone is busy at Christmas. It makes me feel like saying, "If you can't be bothered to celebrate with me at Christmas, don't bother at all!" But of course I never do say that, because I'm far too polite.
...oh actually I do have one other teensy weensy problem...
I don't like getting birthday presents wrapped in Christmas paper.
I am pleased that she was born on Christmas Eve rather than Christmas Day.
We always have and always will celebrate her birthday seperately, including wrapping paper;). Though other family members have already started lumping it together which annoys me no end.
DD sees her 3 older siblings have a birthday each year plus DH and me so why should she be treated any differently?:mad:0 -
Morning all
Am feeling lazy this morning, almost this aft now! Still in my pjs but I need to get a shift on…
Have to go away at 2 with work (not pleased about it eating into my weekend), few bits to do first. DH hassling me to do the insurance thing for the car.
I just feel shattered, not only do I not want to go away, I don’t want to get dressed! Have had a headache since yesterday morning. The wedding we went to was ok, but we left at about 8.30pm to have a bit of time together at home. Am gonna ask Dr if I can have blood tests for anaemia & thyroid as something is not right! I keep getting that weird twitchy eye thing too, even first thing in the morning!
Greenbee – are you sure it’s not just that the speaker cables have worked a bit loose?
Denisefowler – it’s my hair that gets everywhere in this household!
AnW – hope W is feeling a bit better?
KazM – been wondering if you were ok. Good to see you.
christmasshopper - I usually go to oxfam cos I was told they do recycle etc stuff not worth selling!
Julie – hope DH is ok. Typical man leaving it til today!
Right, need to get my butt into gear, in the next hour I plan to:
Get showered & dressed
Pack bag for trip away
Put clean washing up away
S&S kitchen
Strip our bed (DH will remake later)
Clean bathroom
Hang up WM load that has just finished
WM on again

I haven't done much flying this week ladies and after a drunken hen party last night I fell and hurt my shoulder so a great excuse not to do any more today.

juliejim hope he's ok, sounds painful. Fingers crossed, if you're anything like me, that he's not too badly injured that he can't work because I hate putting up with mine when he's on the sick.
lou, baby steps, set yourself small challenges to complete each day and build up from there.
Lovely here today, breezy but nothing bad. Have been calling DP to wake him for ages, he said ring back at 12 and since then haven't been able to get an answer. He's either sound asleep or coming here on his quad.
Anyway I cracked on this morning, some stuff to be taken home in the car, water things emptied, bog emptied, caravan vacuumed, bathroom inc toilet etc cleaned, windows cleaned at the front, some rubish sorted, washing up done, few of the cupboards sorted. Doing well
Oh he's here, with stereo blasting, that'll be why he didn't hear me! TTFNOne day I might be more organised...........

Rach - thanks for the tip about the speaker cable. I will check! Edit: have now done this... nothing wrong with the cables - turned the sound up to max and it was about right for when I'm working... then as I walked out of the room it suddently fixed itself :rotfl: I expect you all heard it
must of been hitting it that did the trick
Re. the headache/tiredness/twitchy eye - its sounds like you're exhausted. I get like this when work is really busy, and if I'm working 14+ hours a day I make sure I don't have any plans for weekends as the thought of them gets me stressed.
Given the length of your commute its not surprising you're tired. A few things I have found that help:- cut out caffiene during the week, as weekend headaches can be caused by the drop in caffiene levels; cut out alcohol for a few weeks, as it dehydrates you and stops you sleeping so well;
- try to excercise in the mornings before work to get your energy levels up (even if its just a 10 minute walk round the block), and do something relaxing (yoga, pilates, gentle swim/walk) followed by a light meal and a bath in the evening.
- Keep electronic equipment out of the bedroom (e.g. TV, radio etc) and try to make sure that the bedroom is used for sleeping rather than watching TV/working etc.
- Eat plenty of fresh veg. Women tend to eat too many carbs, especially when they're tired/run down, and carbs act as a natural tranquiliser, so make you more tired!
- Get your ipod sorted out so you have music to listen to on your train journey, and a good book, so that you have something to look forward to during the journey rather than seeing it as something to be endured.
Hope you feel better soon.0
