To go BR or not??

Don't worry, they won't know you're going BR until you hit the submit button when you've finished. I started filling mine in weeks before the date (OH was doing his the night before:rolleyes: )
And don't worry about buying the bed, you won't be able to after you're BR, and it was necessary.

Thank you!! Youve made me feeel soooo much better... I would hate to see my sons face if we told him he couldnt have it now. He has just this last week started sleeping in his own bed all nigth (rather than in with us) and is adamant he is a BIG BOY now...
Its strange just a few weeks ago we were still spending on the credit card without any worries then its all just come to a head when Dhs employers started saying there wouldnt be as much overtime..
Then they started messing around wit his expenses!! i mean he travels to work in middle of night sometimes and claims overtime (obviously) but they are saying no to the petrol (milage) unless he has a receipt!! How can you have a receipt for MILAGE?? He is getting soo angry with them they havent paid anyting for about 2 months now and its a bloomin 100 odd mile round trip!!! jesus... just waht we need!!
Boys are now lounging in front of Nick Jr!! have offered the park but they are refusing think I will bundle them out in a minute they are far too young to choose telly over park!BSC Member 207 :beer:Mummy to 3 Wonderful Children 2 Boys and a Princess0 -
Morning People!!
I have a couple of questions this morning..
I am going to cancel my direct Debits today in preparation for the BR. Even though I have no idea when this will be, I dont want to book anything in with court till after 15th when DH has been paid and I can remove myself from bank account.
Will DH have to come with me when I go remove myself??
Most payments are not due until the middle end of next month is this ok cancelling them now?
I am not going to cancel car insurance (tho I think last one has just come out) or my mobile - its only £15 a month and I rarely go over and DH would go livid if I took kids out with no phone. Is that ok not cancelling them?
I have moved my Child Benefit to the joint account, should I open a basic account now or wait till after the BR?? One of my biggest debtors is Barclays so I presume I need to go to co-op?
Dh is happy giving me money but to build credit up again I presume I need a Bank account??
Oh and last one!! I think LOL!! I have seen a few posts where the OR / SOA ask why you are in debt, a Lot of my debt is old resulting from the "father" of my first son deserting us when he was just born straddling me with mortgage and bills then when I returned to work childcare on top with no maintenece etc.. But some of it is a lot newer from when we moved into this house and I was signed off work after maternity leave with PND... living expenses etc
then some of it the really new stuff is stuff for the house.. we basically thought my husbands overtime would cover everything and furnished a house but it hasnt
Will the recent stuff look bad on me and slap me with a BRO?? I am dreading that.. because we spent money thinking he would get enough overtime and he didnt just overspent??
Im hoping the older stuff regarding the sperm doner will help
ThanksBSC Member 207 :beer:Mummy to 3 Wonderful Children 2 Boys and a Princess0 -

Most payments are not due until the middle end of next month is this ok cancelling them now? Yes, it wont flag up from the companies until the DD fails anyway.
I am not going to cancel car insurance (tho I think last one has just come out) or my mobile - its only £15 a month and I rarely go over and DH would go livid if I took kids out with no phone. Is that ok not cancelling them? You may be able to keep it but might have to be payed out of your surplus, put it on the forms anyway as its not a massive amount IMO.
I have moved my Child Benefit to the joint account, should I open a basic account now or wait till after the BR?? One of my biggest debtors is Barclays so I presume I need to go to co-op? I am with co-op and Barclays was one of my debtors, but I didnt even try them I just went straight to the coop.
Dh is happy giving me money but to build credit up again I presume I need a Bank account?? If you mean your credit score, having a basic bank account will not do that. But dont worry about your credit score atm. Its going to be knackered for 6 years anyway.

You dont have the fabled 42" plasma TV and the designer art decor sideboard do you?
Will the recent stuff look bad on me and slap me with a BRO?? I am dreading that.. because we spent money thinking he would get enough overtime and he didnt just overspent?? Doubtful but thats upto the OR plus if there is a BRO issued its nothing more than extending your bankruptcy for that length of time. Again dont worry about it at this stage
Im hoping the older stuff regarding the sperm doner will help
Thanks
Added my thoughts to your questions, hope it helps. Chin up and try not to worry Im sure things will be fine.
"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Thanks for responses!!
As for furniture well a 37inch LCD but thats 2/3 years old! and wasnt bought on credit.. The sideboard hmm actually all my lounge furniture was bought by our parents last christmas nice generous parents!!
But generally no none of the house stuff is extravagant.. at least I didnt think so... Looking back maybe
I guess this is the lesson you learn! What you really need and all that.. Learning the hard way.
I only asking as obviously I will still have a mortgage (DH paying) and I know we will struggle to renew the deal in 2 years but was just wondeirng with a BRO would that be even harder..
Hopefully tho as you said the beginning of my debt troubles were to do with the horrible ex.. Dh's debt was mostly mine he consolidated

Sorry another question.
When I get asked if I have taken advice, will payplan suffice??
They originally told me to do an informal arrangement of £1 a month but I wasnt keen on paying my debt off ofr 375 years or something
The 2nd call was where we discussed BR.. and the implications on house etc and DH
Do I need to speak to anyone else or is this ok.
thanksBSC Member 207 :beer:Mummy to 3 Wonderful Children 2 Boys and a Princess0 -
Any professional debt advice free or paid over the phone or face to face will be suffice...We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Ok another question - am full of them today.
My car (again!!).. its HP, you have all said previously the OR will not touch if DH agrees to carry on paying, but what if DH says no he wont pay it?? Will the OR deal with the finance comapny for me and get them to tkae the car back and any shortfall will fall into the BR??
Only asking as we think DH's parents may lend us a few thou so we can get me an older car but a reliable one.. which means the finance cost will go leaving DH paying half the monthly amount to his parents with no interest.. making things a little easier for DH??
Last nigth Dh was asking me questions half the night, I am soo glad I have read and posted on this board for answers! Otherwise I wouldnt have a clue.
He opened a savings account last night (HIS NAME!!) so that the months he does get paid more tan our living expenditure he can save the difference and use it the months he doesnt rather than using credit (well we will have no credit once my CC's are gone) and if he has a few good months he can pay straight off his debt.. Thats the plan anyway.. we really want rid of all this debt!
Anyway i am rambling againBSC Member 207 :beer:Mummy to 3 Wonderful Children 2 Boys and a Princess0 -
The OR won't deal with the finance company for you, you'll have to arrange that yourself, but the shortfall will fall into your BR.
Good idea about the savings account, it's amazing the way your attitude towards money changes when it all goes wrong. I never used to check our bank statements, just used to use my card whenever I needed to. Now i check exactly what's in the bank every few days, and it's a bloomin good job too, BT overcharged us by £50 this week, I never would have even noticed before.:DAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

OK thanks, I will talk to DH again tonight about speaking to his parents sooner rather than later! We are not planing on telling any of them about me going BR.. my parents would be mortified (my dad used to be a bank manager!!!)...
But good news my mum has agreed to pay for Son no 1's swimming lessons, £109 every 3 months!!! so thats good that he wont have to stop them (I would hate that also he can swim over 10 meters unaided now and he only just 3!) luckily my second son hates swimming so he will be relegated to going when Dh has a spare few pounds to go get him used to it!BSC Member 207 :beer:Mummy to 3 Wonderful Children 2 Boys and a Princess0
