  • OMG I have managed on £100 for October. This is due mainly to harvest from allotment and bargains on chickens which i managed to stretch. Not buying lots of cleaning sprays and just using stardrops and vinegar has also helped. I used to spend over £200 for the two of us but have become a careful shopper. We have enough meals in freezer for the next two weeks. I go on my supermarket and make a list on Tesco site then just run the list off and head for the things I need and nothing else. Our local Rainbow store has lots of bargains each evening so stock up on them also have become a dab hand at making soup.:T
  • Can I please be put down for £275 for November please.

    Thank you.

Hey Ho! My GC starts anew today so to get the red bits done & dusted:-

I can declare £289:32 for October & stick to £350 for November please.

I've been running down the freezers in readiness to grab some bargains [are there such things now:confused: ] to fill them again! We are having a bog-standard crimbo, cuz I'm fed up with finding the 'specials' I'd forgotten we had, at the back of the drawers under my bed in July :D There's a few packs of choccie bickies & a tin of sweets in already, & I'll go more for savoury-type snacks like sausage rolls & samosa as opposed to traditional nibbly bits such as crisps & nuts. Theory is, the 'buffet' foods are more filling so should go further than a tube of cheeselets at a similar cost....we shall see :o

Have you folks thought about what you're doing for the festivities? And do you have any recipes you would like to share? I've not made my cake yet & I'm not sure I will & only two of us like Pud..other years we've had merigue nests with either tinned or frozen fruit & cream from the milkman  ; flan; spotted !!!!!! & steamed sponge pud..we don't 'do' traditional :p I'm starting to look around for a decent leg of lamb & maybe a bit of beef too & inspiration for this years pud...pancakes served with spiced fruit compote sounds like a winner...off to research some recipes :hello:
