  • The controls are a bit difficult, and I can't find how to navigate folders, just files. Not bad still though. I put on a podcast and music which was fine.

Incidentally the player can only be charged via the USB although you can buy a USB plug from Amazon for £4 if you don't want to lug your laptop on holiday

i have a usb for my camera will it be ok to use the plug for the player  sorry to sound like a thicko i'd never seen the plugs before until i bought my new camera, it'd be good to know it can be used for any usb device rather than being specific to the cam

    many thanks:beer:

  • Thanks to the op for the heads up.

I thought I would give a summary of my findings with this player.

The control system is a little awkward, particulary the centre part of it, where it has the up and down feature. From new it is frustrating pushing your finger up and down and the control system has difficulty in noticing this, once you have used it an hour or 2, i think it wears in a little better and goes fine. Also i noticed switching the sensativity to medium appears to work better.

No problems in playing varied types of mp3 formats and displays relevant info on screen. Also plays wma, though I have not tested.

The sound is a little flat, even when changing to custom equalizer or presets, and using better headphones. The headphone jack is standard. The volume level of this player is not as loud as some, but loud enough.

Hooking it to the computer via usb and transferring files, posed no problems at all.

The player does not recognise / sort tracks by folder, which is a let down, but sorts them in several other different ways which you can select which way and scroll down the list.

The visual equalizer on screen when playing a track, is just a preset pattern rather than to the music track your playing

Displays jpeg photos fine, no problems and has a slide show function / settings.

Not tested video fully, although the manual states it plays avi / divx, but I can state it does not play divx / avi formats from the internet, you have to convert them using the software on the cd.

You have the standard functions to key lock, search through music tracks to a particular point, skip tracks, power save / backlight functions etc..

It charges via usb, manual states it takes 3 hours, but mine charged with half that time. Not tested how long it takes to go flat, but I believe its around 8 hours.

Overall, for the money, its a budget player at a budget price and is the same price of stick players that dont have a colour screen, so you cant go wrong really. For this point in time, its cheap for what it is, but not mega cheap. It is certainly not worth the money at its a full price of £45, but is certainly a bargain at £17.50.

If you want the functionality of an ipod etc.. then dont buy this.
  • Thanks so much Jetty, have been looking for a reasonable spec MP3 and video player to get the nephews for Christmas for about a month - this is the best value I've seen! Ordered two, sorted :-)
