My local Post Office takes lots of bagged coins. I know them very well in there though, so I don't know if all Post Offices take them, or if they just take them as they know me! Worth asking in your local one though. Here I go again on my own....0

Get them from your bank. Natwest gave me about 500!
Don't bag your coins up in rival banks bags and expect your bank to accept them. They won't. Happened to a mate of mine. I did warn him so had no sympathy for him!0 -

These machines are a rip off. I put £10 in one once (as an experiment) and it only registered as about £8.50 and then cut a further 7.9% of it!
Count the money yourself and take it to your bank although a few of the smaller banks won't accept a load in one go. The traditional 'big 4' will though.0 -
Open a Natwest account and deposit it in there. I took over 150 bags in there recently (weighed a ton!) and they accepted it no problem. I would imagine you would need to transfer the coins from Halifax to Natwest bags though.0

I bank with Halifax who only take 5 bags at a time - we have nearly £600!!!
Can anyone advise - I don't really want to use a change sorter in Asda as they take a percentage don't they??

I have an old account I don't use with Lloyds TSB I'll chase it up next week and see if they will take my money! might have to change the bags as someone else mentioned!;)0

you dont need to change the bags. As long as the bags match the coin type, you dont have a problem with the logo on them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks for the advice, I'll have to try a different Post Office, the on I tried is quite a small one!
I'll maybe try to pop into a couple of other banks this week to try as well!0
