most retailers love change as banks charge for getting change.0

Legally they are the same - if you wish to call them toytown banks please do so .0 -

If you read what I wrote that is exactly what I said !!!

This is a thread that crops up from time to time. If you have a personal account with one of the 'traditional' banks (Barclays, Lloyds, HSBC, NatWest/RBOS) expect they will accept an unlimited amount providing it's properly bagged and will provide you with the bags as well - I've never had any problems with NatWest or Barclays in this regard.
If you bank with one of the more recent converts (Abbey, Halifax etc) then there probably will be restrictions in place. These organisations usually don't have the same infrastructure to cope with large cash transactions so try and avoid receiving them.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -

If i remember correctly it is 7% but its not commision, I think it goes to charity.
The coinsorter machine in my ASDA is always out of use anyway!0 -
The Coinstar machines take a 7.9% cut. It doesn't go to charity. The machines have to make money or whats the point?0

Minus the machines cut of it.0 -
HBOS will only allow 5 bags of coins to be deposited at a time in an adult account. However, **LOOPHOLE!!**, if you have a children's savings account (eg for your children/grandchildren) you can put in as much bagged coins as you have!
